Question about Sony Ericsson K800i Cellular Phone
A little icon is showing. Its a little red pnone with a line through it. We cant make any phone calls or text. This is after putting a new SIM card in. The old SIM worked perfectly.
You haven't given any details of the old and new SIM cards, but what you describe is typical of either a phone which is locked to an individual network, with a SIM of the "wrong" network inserted, or an inactive SIM card which has not yet been enabled by your network.
To cure the first fault, either revert to a SIM from the original network provider or pay to get the phone unlocked (you can either pay the network supplier it's currently locked to or you can use a phone unlocking shop. Sometimes the network option is cheaper and you certainly don't risk having your phone cloned and personal data copied by a dishonest shop proprietor).
The second fault may occur if you need to replace one SIM with another on the same network and same number. If that's the case, then you need to contact your network operator to deactivate the old SIM and activate the new one.
A third possibility, though less likely, is that you have a faulty SIM which need to be replaced.
