The player will read dvd but will not play cd

  • Turn on the DVD player. It generally takes a few seconds to get going. Take out the DVD if there's one in the drive already.
  • 2 Make sure the disc isn't scratched or dirty. Use a soft rag to clean the disc if you see any smudges. Insert the CD into the DVD player's disc drive and close it.
  • 3 Press the "Play" button on the DVD player or remote control. Some DVD players will begin reading the disc automatically. Pushing the button works just as well.
  • 4 Use the "Scene Selection" buttons on your remote to select a track. Some DVD players have odd ways of ordering the buttons on the remote. You might have to play around a bit before you find all the right buttons to work the CD playing function of your machine.
  • 5 Crank it up and enjoy your music. The DVD player will act just like a CD player and play the tracks of the CD through the TV.

hi there is nothing to do by yourself. you need to take your md player to the next authorized service. seems the optical device that reads the discs has worn out, compareable to turntables you need to change the `needle` ;)

When I put a dvd in, it can't read the disc

The problem is in the laser pickup assembly, overtime the laser becomes weaker until it can not track the dvd disc. It is far cheaper to replace the dvd player than have it repaired.

Player will not read discs. keeps saying "no disc" when discs are inserted. Worked fine until today.

Easy option first , clean laser with a laser cleaning disc ,if that doesn't work then (I assume you have tried more than 1 disc). a laser won't read a dirty disc, you may have a laser mechanism fault ie laser sticking in its tracks. you could try oiling the cradle that the laser sits on. other than that it is a costly repair.

My Sony disc player cdk-kia single disc goes wacky when it gets to the 10th track of any musical disc, All the tracks before that are ok.

    Hello,

The 9th track is the maximum length/strength your Sony disc player cdk-kia could read disc to play, since it is on all musical disc that this problem occur.

The lens of your Sony disc player cdk-kia is weak and could not read beyond that limit, all you need to do is get a lens cleaner to clean the lens and if that did not solve the problem, then you will need to change the lens on your Sony disc player cdk-kia because it is weak.

    Take care.

    Problem with Finalizing Disc

When you insert the disc what does the recorder display after it examines it (Reading TOC)? - CDR, TOC, CDR-W, NO TOC?

It should know the disc is not finalized and let you either record more on it or finalize it.

If not, and you need to recover the 4 tracks try loading the disc on a DVD player. My old Pioneer will read unfinalized CDR-A's so I can digitally copy what's on them back to another CDR-A.

    Toshiba SD-2050 problem reading discs

If it reads only the first track, it sounds like a mechanical obstruction of the laser assembly (something is physically blocking it from travelling on its rails). If you are so inclined, try removing the deck lid andgently pushing the laser (in an area where there's nothing fragile) along its track to see if it frees up. It doesn't usually take much.
