Hi!!

Repair and parts for a microwave oven, (exept replacing the light bulb) are so expensive that I recommend just getting a new one. I fixed a couple myself and after one thing comes another one. Better off buying a new one.

Don't forget to rate this post. Good Luck.

Panasonic microwave NN-P295 display shows extra digit or letter like clockK, PressS and 12:322? Any ideas?

I would first try a hard reset by unplugging the oven a couple of minutes, then plugging it back in, setting the clock, and trying again.

If that didn't work, I would wonder if there is grease or moisture on the controller.

Is it possible that some spray cleaner accidentally got into the controls?

Direct spraying of cleaners on the keypad and steam from the cooktop can damage the controls.

I always recommend that you spray non-ammonia cleaner on a soft cloth (not a paper towel which can scratch) and gently wipe the keypad.

And I always recommend that you use the vent fan whenever you're cooking on the stove top to keep heat, steam, and grease out of the controls and door panels.

If it does not dry out over time, it may need to be manually dried or blown out.

The keypad may be damaged or worn out, or control unit may be damaged.

The vent will turn on randomly and not turn off!

Most over the range microwaves have a heat safety system built into them. If for instance you are cooking on the stove top for a long period of time on the burner directly under the micro control panel and the control panel get too hot, a thermostat in the microwave will automatically turn on the vent fan to help keep the control panel cooled off. My guess is that the safety thermostat (usually right behind the bottom of the control panel) may be going bad and needs replaced.

Microwave steams up and turnsoff

Hello friend, thank you for your inquiry!

If your Frigidaire microwave is steaming up and turning off it could be a possible problem with moisture getting into your control panel. I would suggest having a professional technician come out they can perform a proper diagnosis. I hope this is helpful. -Matt

Vent fan wont turn off

Steve,

The vent fan is thermostat controlled to protect the control panel. Once the panel temp drops, this will turn off by itself. This is normal for this to occur when your steaming and cooking for a long time. Good Luck

Door switch not making reliable contact, is there a door adjustment procedure? Panasonic NNCS597 steam microwave

If you take off the cover panel, you can see the microswitch and its adjustment slot on the control panel side. This can be adjusted to operate correctly.

My stainless frigidaire range was on broil when all of a sudden the panel where the clock is get blurry, shows F1 and beeping.

That sounds like steam is condensing on the control panel. Are all of the fans working and is the exhaust clear?

The touch pad does not work

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for about 5 minutes.

Otherwise, you probably have a failed membrane keypad.

Is it possible that some spray cleaner or steam accidentally got into the controls?

Direct spraying of cleaners on the keypad and steam from the cooktop can damage the controls.

I always recommend that you spray non-ammonia cleaner on a soft cloth (not a paper towel which can scratch) and gently wipe the keypad.

And I always recommend that you use the vent fan whenever you're cooking on the stove top to keep heat, steam, and grease out of the controls and door panels.

If it does not dry out over time, it may need to be manually dried or blown out.

The keypad may be damaged or worn out, or control unit may be damaged.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.
At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

But please note that for some models, the membrane keypad is not
available as a separate part, so you would have to order the control
panel frame assembly which comes with a new keypad.

In this case, you simply move your circuit board into the new frame.
That is a simple do-it-yourself
job.

Keypad does not work after steam hits it

I always recommend that you use the vent fan whenever you're cooking on the stove top to keep heat, steam, and grease out of the controls and door panels.

If it does not dry out over time, it may need to be manually dried or blown out.

The keypad may be damaged or worn out, or control unit may be damaged.

Keypad failure can cause it to come on by itself, which can lead to a fire.

Direct spraying of cleaners on the keypad and steam from the cooktop can damage the controls.

The interior fan in my microwave stopped working. I could still use it but it would steam up. It stopped working comepletely now.

The interior (cooling) fan is critical to keep the magnetron cool. If it fails the magnetron will overheat.

This can cause it to trip the thermostat or thermal fuse, which will make the oven dead. If the magnetron is overheated too long of too often, it will be destroyed.

By contrast, the hood / exhaust / vent fan is important for keeping steam and grease out of the controls of your microwave.

The hood fan can fail due to problems with the motor or the control panel.

If you or someone you know wants to look into this, we have critical safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa.

We even have a video on our site that shows you how to safely & easily remove the control panel assembly in less than 5 minutes so you can check out your oven.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

We're happy to help you and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.
