Question about Brother HL-2040 Laser Printer
How do I get around this??
What you should do is look at the short sides of the toner. You will notice a clear round piece with tabs sticking up. What you need to do is color the inner part of the circle with a sharpie. This should give you another 100 prints or so. After you've exhausted that option, cover the spot a few times with electrical tape. What this is doing is block the "low toner" laser from shooting through these open spaces, tricking it into thinking it is full. Be sure to be observant; when the paper begins to look 'dirty' it is REALLY time to replace the cartridge. I've gotten up to 2,000 prints extra by doing this!! Good luck!

I tried taping, blacking out with marker the clear windows on both sides and still didnt work for me. I found a lever on the gear side of the toner.. this seems to be the off switch once toner reaches a certain amount of revolutions. simply unscrew the three screws and remove plate.. turn plate over and gently turn the lever to the opposite end.. put back together and put toner back into printer... this worked for me, hope this helps.
