Question about Maytag 24 in. MD5600 Jetclean II Built-in Dishwasher
First try a different brand of soap. Check that the soap door has opened about half way through the wash cycle. You may need a water softener.

The Water Inlet Valve is not Working. This is a small piece at the bottom of the dishwasher where the inlet hose connects to. The Valve is stuck and water will not enter the dishwasher itself. Of course this is one of the most expensive pieces of the dishwasher to replace!

The make and model number can probably be found around the door edge (usually right side) If you can find it, post the make and mode # here.
Recommend you get a box of brand name detergent powder (like Electrosol or Cascade) and begin only using that. (Neve use gel or tablets) Cheap Cheap, generic detergent does not dissolve properly, leaves residue of its own and cleans poorly.
If problems continue, check the heating element as it is very possible that it has failed and the dishwasher needs to get to the proper temperature to activate the detergent. Also check to see if the holes in the spray arms are not blocked with debris.
If the heating element is working, then the wash pump motor has begun to fail and you need to decide to replace it or replace the entire dishwasher.

Testimonial: "thanks for the great advice"
Make sure you have the salt filled up. If you do then it is probably caused by a blockage in the plastic tube matrix inside. You can repair this yourself with a bit of confidence and common sense.
