Cannot finish installation (Belkin F5D8633-4 wireless modem router N mimo)
I,ve just bought a Belkin N mimo wireless modem router F5D8633-4.When i come to the final stages of the installation cd i,ve put in ISPs username and password, when it then tries to connect to the internet it always fails and the internet connection symbol flashes amber. I am with TALKTALK as ISP. PLEASE HELP!!!
Do you have a different modem from TALKTALK? can you connect to the internet through that?
if so, you may not have to set a username and password for the belkin router: just connect the belkin router's internet port to the talktalk modem and let the talktalk modem handle the automatic connection.
do you know what protocol the talktalk ISP uses? it's probably PPPOE; make certain that your belkin router is set to the correct protocol. if you just hook it up to the talktalk modem though, you probably won't have to specificy a protocol at all.

Yes you simply need to hook up via an Ethernet cable, open a browser type in the routers address, login with username and password, and then you can edit any setting you like. Then when finished you save settings and reboot router.
installation guide below.
Pay attention to part about 802.11n compatibility? Perhaps try changing the IEEE standard on the router to 802.11g in the set up pages, as it may be set at 802.11n, which your older wireless card will not see.
As to the acquiring ip address message, try using a static ip address, here's a good guide:-
Huh? You installed Vista through your Virgin Cable Modem? What on earth does that mean?
Are you trying to ask "How do I install my Belkin Wireless G Router?"
If that is the actual question, here is the answer:
1) Unplug your cable modem from your computer. 2) Plug the cable modem into the router using a Ethernet Cable. 3) Plug the router into the computer using another Ethernet Cable. 4) Plug in the power supply for the cable modem and then the router.
(If your cable modem is ONLY USB, and doesn't have a spot to plug in a Ethernet Cable, you'll have to call Virgin and replace the modem with a model that does)
Once everything is up and running, you should be on the internet as soon as the computer starts.
(You may want to log into the router and disable the "Wireless" settings if you aren't using them to stop others from gaining entry to your network)
no guide needed, just connect the modem to the router with the ethernet cable provided by your ISP, flip your router over, find the default ip address and login info, login to the router with this info, run the setup.
