Unlocked iphone

just received my new unlocked iphone. right away i had problems getting it to engage but finally after rebooting it worked long enough for me to sync itunes,photos, and my address book but then it began to randomly cut off. after that i'd get a green screen and sometimes a flashing white screen, then the silver apple screen but nothing else. finally it connected again and last night i listened to the ipod for a few hours and made some adjustments to the settings. i put it to sleep and charged it overnight and this morning it seemed fine but as soon as i tried to input a weather location it blanked out again. now its back to the flashing screens and frozen apple. it seems that everytime i try to use wifi or edge it cuts off and it even seemed to have a glitch when i attempted to insert a sim card. its 1.1.4. are many people having problems with this grade and should i downgrade to 1.1.3?
