Hi,

There are many Bold users facing similar problems like yours. It seems to be more like a hardware issue and the only solution is to get it repaired or replaced if it is under warranty.

You should first try the below 2 solutions:

1)Hit the Green Button -> Menu Button -> Options -> General Options -> Default Call Volume -> 100%

If the first one doesn't help then switch to below step:

2)a.Take off the back plate
b. Locate the light grey box that surrounds the flash.
c. Lightly stick your fingernail under the top of the box and slightly lift.

IF you still face the same problem then it is a hardware issue and the only solution is to send it to repair or get it replaced if under warranty.

Thank you for using fixya.

Your worth more money. The grey box did the trick. Thanks.

Ringer is marked as off on my blackberry bold 9700 and i have no sound

Hi,Sound profiles define how your BlackBerry device alerts you of phone calls, messages, reminders, and browser content.

Your device has a Normal sound profile and six other preloaded sound profiles: Loud, Medium, Vibrate Only, Silent, Phone Calls Only, and All Alerts Off.

By default, some of the settings in the preloaded sound profiles are based on the settings in the Normal sound profile. For example, when you change the ring tone in the Normal sound profile, the ring tone in the Loud, Medium, and Phone Calls Only sound profiles is automatically updated. If you do not want specific settings for a preloaded sound profile to update automatically when you change the corresponding setting in the Normal profile, you can manually change the settings in that preloaded sound profile.

You can create custom sound profiles. When you assign a custom ring tone to a contact, the ring tone is always active and does not change when you switch sound profiles unless you switch to the All Alerts Off sound profile. Call and message notifications for your contacts might be audible even if you switch your sound profile to Silent or Vibrate Only.

You can change, rename, and delete most preloaded sound profiles. You cannot delete the Vibrate Only sound profile and you cannot change, rename or delete the All Alerts Off sound profiles. You can change the Normal sound profile, but you cannot rename or delete it because some of the settings in the other preloaded sound profiles are based on the settings in the Normal sound profile.

Change a sound profile

If you change a setting in a preloaded sound profile that is based on the Normal sound profile, that change will override the corresponding Normal sound profile setting in the preloaded sound profile.

1. On the Home screen, click the Sounds icon.
2. Perform one of the following actions:
* To change the active sound profile, click Set Ring Tones/Alerts.
* To change a custom or preloaded sound profile, click Edit Profiles. Click a profile.
3. Click the application or item that you want to change.
4. Change the notification information.
5. Press the Menu key.
6. Click Save.
7. Press the Menu key.
8. Click Save.

Hope that helped...

Hi how can i increase volume on my blackberry 9000. Even on high volume setting there is no ringtone sometimes

Hi there

On your Blackberry menu, there's an icon that resembles a person's head that represents profiles. In the profiles menu, you can select the volume for the notifications you receive when messages or calls come in. Choose "Loud" to hear all notifications at an equal volume, equivalent to the maximum output possible.

Some ring tones just remain less audible than others even when they're set to maximum volume. If you've tried increasing the volume of your notifications but still can't hear the ringer sometimes, try downloading a custom ringtone from the Blackberry App Store.

When selecting a custom ringtone, choose something distinctive and hard to ignore. When previewing the tone, determine whether it seems louder or easier to hear than your existing tone. Download more than one tone and experiment throughout the day.

After you've downloaded custom ringtones, set your phone to use these ringers by going into the applicable notification profile. Select "Show Tunes" and open the media folder where you've chosen to save your downloaded tones. Select the ringer you want and click "Set as Phone Tune."

My ringing volume is very low i have tried advanced profiles and put all setting on high however its still very low i can hardly hear it.

I have the same issue. It is a manufacturing fault. The fix with mine was to fold up a gum wrapper and place it over the camera flash, and re-fit the back cover. It may take some fiddling around as too much pressure will cause it to go low in volume again. another solution would be to place a dab of glue around the camera flash and let it dry before replacing the back cover. In the end, you just want to applie a slight pressure to the camera lens / flash area. Hope this helps

All phones have an option to reset to factory settings inside the menu somewhere, not sure if this will fix the problem?

Sometime different profiles are set funny like the ring volume being set low, maybe try a different profile?? hope this helps.

Very low ring volume in blackberry bold 9000

I had the same problem. My ring was getting lower everyday. I've done my fair share of dropping the phone.
So, I read that other people were having the issue.
One genius, told us to take off the back plate, and just where the camera is, there is a greyish plastic plate riveted down with plastic knobs. You press on either side quite hard. If you can do this while the phone is ringing, you will hear the volume jump up and down. When it sounds just right, leave it alone, put back on the plate.
If it happens again, repeat.
You may need to buy the speaker plate after a while. It's only 10 bucks on cnn.cn

Low custom (individual) ring volume

This is not a B/B fault, unfortunatley the person who recorded the ringtone has recorded it at a low level, import into a wave/mp3 studio program and alter the recorded levels.

That is if you have tried the following:

Select Speaker Icon on the front screen of your 8100 (top right) press pearl in, scroll down to advanced, select the current profile (this is defaulted to Normal). Scroll to Phone and press pearl in.

Change Volume to High, if it's already on high, try the option above.

Bold 9000 ring and alert volume way too low, regardless of settings

Some of the ringtones in the Bold don't seem to be suited for "loud" profiles.
Try to edit your settings for the ringtone, making sure you pay attention to the correct settings.
To edit your ring settings
-go to your "profiles" screen -roll the ball to the bottom and select "advanced" -highlight the profile you want to edit -use your BB button to select "edit"
-choose the "phone" application -choose the setting you would like to edit (in holster or out of holster) -choose your volume setting from here.
This should solve your problem

I need help with volume

You may have selected a profile that does not alert you audibly when you receive messages. You may select a different profile, edit the current profile or create a completely new profile. I'm attaching instructions for creating a profile and editing would be similar except you would select a profile then select "edit" for the menu. Be use you have "tone" or "vibrate and tone" selected and that the volume is not on mute. Always save your changes.

Create notification profiles
1.In the profiles list, click the trackwheel.
2.Click New Profile.
3.Type a name for the profile.
4.Click an item.
5.Click Edit.
6.Set how you want to receive notification for that item.
7.Click the trackwheel.
8.Click Save.
9.Click the trackwheel.
10.Click Save.

To turn on tones when pressing the keys, follow the following instructions:

Turn on tones when pressing keys
In the device options, click Screen/Keyboard. Set the Key Tone field to On. Click the trackwheel. Click Save.
