To clean the corona wire in the brother laser printer, it said to
remove the drum/toner assembly from the printer. This is very easy to
do, you simply pull down the front of the printer, and press a small
green tab down and pull. Then the toner and drum assembly will quickly
After that, it says you must clean the corona wire by moving a small
green square back and forth several times. It seemed kind of strange to
me, but I did it anyways. In the upper right corner of the drum/toner
assembly, there is a small green/blue square that can be moved back and
forth. I did this several times.
I then placed the unit inside, and the error message went away for a
minute. However it still wouldn't print and the error message came right
back up. I was a bit frustrated since I have only owned this printer
for about 2-3 months.
But then I realized something: The toner button had been blinking for
about a month. I had already purchased a high yield black toner
cartridge for the brother laser printer (Tn-330/TN360). I purchased it
online, and had it stored for when I eventually ran out of toner.
I thought perhaps the error message had something to do with the old
toner. Maybe it was out?? So I once again opened the front of the laser
printer, and removed the toner/drum assembly. I pressed a green tab,
removed the old toner, and then added the brand new high yield black
laser toner cartridge. The whole process was very simple (you gotta love
I then quickly "cleaned the corona wire" a few times again just to be
safe. I re-installed the toner, and the printer was up and running. So
apparently it will throw this error when you are out of toner. Now the
printer is running great again, and I really like this printer.
If you are still using an ink jet printer, then you are living in the
stone age. I was reluctant to buy a new laser printer, but now I love
it. The toner only costs $30-60 and lasts for months. I print hundreds
of labels out each month-just to give you an idea of how long it lasts.or get more information Call +877 889 6859 for detail.
Drum Error - The corona wire on the drum unit needs to be cleaned. Clean the corona wire on the drum unit. (See Cleaning the corona wire on page 122.)
Cleaning the corona wire: If you have print quality problems, clean the corona wire as follows: a. Turn off the machine's power switch. Unplug the telephone line cord first, disconnect all cables, and then unplug the power cord from the AC power outlet. b. Open the front cover. c. Slowly take out the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly. CAUTION: We recommend that you place the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly on a clean, flat surface with a sheet of disposable paper or cloth underneath it in case you accidentally spill or scatter toner. Handle the toner cartridge carefully. If toner scatters on your hands or clothes, wipe or wash it off with cold water at once. To prevent damage to the machine caused by static electricity, DO NOT touch the electrodes shown in the illustration. d. Clean the corona wire inside the drum unit by gently sliding the green tab from right to left and left to right several times. CAUTION: Be sure to return the green tab to the home position (a) (1). If you do not, printed pages may have a vertical stripe. e. Put the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly back in the machine. f. Close the front cover. g. Plug the machine's power cord back into the AC power outlet first, and then reconnect all cables and telephone line cord. Turn on the machine's power switch.
Your cartridge has two sections, the drum and the toner section. The corona wire is on the drum section. There should be a blue tab on the top left hand side of your drum unit. Slide this tab across the cartridge one or two times, returning the tab to its original position. There should be an arrow on the blue tab that will match up with an arrow on the drum unit when the tab is in its resting position. Performing this action cleans the corona wire inside the cartridge. If this doesn't fix it you may need to purchase a new drum unit.
Hi, Sorry my english is poor, but i will try:
you have to say to your machine that you change the drum, open the front end, and pull out the drum , and insert it, but before you close the front end, push the clear/back button, and answer yes,...thi is it :-)

or toner on the corona wire may cause this error message to appear on
the display. To clean the corona wire, follow the instructions
Brother strongly recommends that customers do not use generic drumunits
and/or toner cartridges, or refill their Brother toner cartridge. Each
Brother laser printer is designed to work at pre-set temperatures that
are matched exactly to each of our individual toner formulations. Each
individual component is designed to work with the other to ensure
quality and reliability. Using non-Brother supplies may affect the
hardware performance, print quality and machine reliability. The
Brotherlimited warranty does not apply to any problem that is caused by
the useof unauthorized third party drum units, toner cartridges or
toner. 1. Open the front cover (below the paper ejection tray) by pulling the taps on the left and right side of the unit towards you. 2. Lift the drum unit slightly and pull it out. 3. Place the drum unit on a drop cloth or large piece of disposable paper to avoid spilling and scattering the toner. 4.
Clean the corona wire inside the drum by gently sliding the blue tap
(located on the top left side of the drum unit) from side to side 7 or 8 times. 5.
Return the tab to the home position (left side of drum). It should
click into place. NOTE: If the tab is not at the Home position,
printedpages may have vertical stripes. 6. Reinstall the drum unit. 7. Close the front cover, pressing firmly on each side until the cover clicks into place.
Of you need to remove the toner cartage the if you look on the roller side of it you will see a tiny yellow tab on the right side I believe that is the corona wire cleaning tab. You press down or hold on to it and slide it back and forth left to right thus cleaning the corona wire.
Also the message corona wire needs cleaning often is displayed close to the end of the toner life so after cleaning and reseating the toner back in the printer wait for it to self test 10 sec or so and the press three times the blue large (only) button on the printer. You need to press it at a good speed for the printer to respond. Press to fast it won't work.
This will give you a printer setting page on it the toner life will be displayed along with estimated drum life and good deal of other information.
You've most likely got a dirty corona wire and/or drum. The wire should be cleaned each time you change the toner as well as if/when the print quality starts to degrage. Remove the toner cartridge, give the corona wire several swipes with the tab and make sure the tab is put back securely in place. If cleaning the wire doesn't fix your problem, go ahead and clean the drum. Either one of these or both should solve your issue. Only other thing that could cause your error would be the toner cartridge is not securely in place. (shouild click in securely). Best of luck.
I was getting the clean the corona wire problem message even after repeated cleanings. Before this problem occured the toner light was flashing warning of low toner. When I got the clean the wire pop up the toner light was on all the time indicating the toner was depleated. So, I thought I would try replacing the toner cartridge and see what happened. I opened the new toner box and noticed on the foil packege specific instructions to clean the corona wire when installing the new toner. I installed the new toner and cleaned the wire one more time. I then reinstalled the drum and toner assembly into the printer and the clean the corona wire message did not come up again. The printer now works fine.
The drum is the larger plastic unit that slides out an the toner cartridge fits into it. The corona wire is the very fine wire at the front top of the drum. Just slide the little cleaning tab back and forth.
