ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT.
If you have to replace your drum belt and if you have a front loading machine.
Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer. Be real careful not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch. Then remove the top of the dryer.
Remove the front of the machine, this will expose the belt and drum, remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm bracket with pulley, and motor with pulley. Pay attention to the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt and drum.
Sometimes the belt will slip off of the idler arm or motor causing the drum not to turn.
While you have the drum out, I would recommend that you lubricate the drum rollers at the shaft of the roller with a good grade of machine oil like 3 in One oil. This will save you a problem later with the rollers getting noisy, also check your drum rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them this will cause a noise like a thumping type noise. You will need to replace the drum rollers if they have flat spots on them.
I will include these two websites for parts and further help:

Both also have chat assistance 24/7.
Good luck,
I hope this helps

My Kenmore he5t washer does not spin the clothes dry I always have to ring them out and try to get the water that's left in the machine out what wrong???

Almost every machine I've seen that doesn't washes but doesn't spin had the same problem, the drive belt is greasy making the belt slip, it takes five minutes to fix no parts needed. Take the back off. Spray the belt with any soapy cleaner, take a stiff brush and hold it onto the side of the belt that is in contact with the motor. Turn the belt, while holding the brush against it. Should turn easily if you pull it either direction in line with the way it normally moves. It will run over a large pulley wheel, scrub the edge of the wheel which contacts the belt, there should be plenty of space, the belt only goes over the top and sides. Put the back on leave it to dry for 15-20 minutes, it should spin fine.

Your model number indicates this is a Maytag top slosher. I suspect you have a simple misaligned snubber pad due to mishandling while moving or a broken spring seen it, MORE HERE

I have a kenmore elite top load washer, can not find paperwork or model # on machine. It will not spin clothes dry. I believe the belt just needs tightening but I have never done so. what are your...

There is a metal plate giving the Make, Model No and the serial no and other details either at the bottom of rear cover plate OR at the top. Also, the details of the machine are always given on the Sales invoice/receipt. If you have misplaced/lost it you can go back to the retailer from whom you purchased the machine and get these details. If the machine is not spinning the clothes dry then the problem is not with the belt it is the programming in control panel which you can not do it yourself. This requires change of control panel. For that you have to contact the service representative in your area and get the needful done. You can approach the belt by opening the back cover and below the drum is the motor and the belt which can be seen easily.

Washing machine GLWS1649ASO wont spin on spin cycle. motor and pulley turn, but belt doesn't move. Is it the belt?

no it will not be the belt more so it will be a bad transmission.or something stuck under the agitator i have seen drill bits and keys get stuck under the agitator and cause the transmission to stop
remover the agitator first and check it is there is nothing there the transmission needs to be replaced

My 15 year old Maytag Dryer is starting to squeal from the drum rubbing metal to metal up front. The Belt is in good shape. What else could be problem?

Time for a new one I think, but here goes.
The drum guide rollers at the rear or the guide pads at the front will be worn out, due to the age parts may be difficult.
To inspect:
Electrically Isolate the machine, at the joint between the front panel and top panel insert a flat blade 4" from each side to release the top catches and tilt the lid back to open, remove the front panel internal screws and remove the front panel.
The drum and machine internals can be seen.
Remove the drum belt - note the belt path direction around the motor and belt tensioner.
The drum removes by rotating and easing forward, there will be pads or rollers that support the drum, check these as they are the most probable cause.

Maytag coin-op top load wont spin, motor runs, belt burns.

it not a belt, there is a $20 plastic and rubber coupling between the motor and the transmission that has broken.  It needs replacing.

It is possible that the belt has come off or the lid latch is no functioning.

First unplug the machine then remove the two screws from the front lower edge of the washer.

The front panel will lift up towards you at a 45 degree angle. The latches will release than the entire front panel can be place out of the way.

The lid latch can be seen on the underside of the top panel to the right, check that the wires are not loose.

You will see a large motor mounted upright near the base this should have the belt around the pulley to the bottom of the tub assembly. Check for obvious damage

Outside of this you will need a repairman for help.

Washer won't spin

A common fault on a front loader washing is brushes wearing out in the motor. A general maintance is to check these brushes out about ever two years. Isolate the washing machine from the power. Remove the motor and with a small screw driver lift the brushes of the commutator or just take it down to your local motor rewinder and get him to bench run the motor and test it while you wait. If its had its day look around for a good second hand one. It could be in the electronics but i have seen a motor take the electronics out?? I think its the motor???
