Reciever shuts off

Most likely cause of a receiver shutting off when turned up is a bad speaker or speaker wire.
As far as having to turn it up almost all the way, that is the norm on most new receivers today. Most receivers no longer have a true preamp section, which means you have to run the main amp much harder in order to get a decent sound level.

How do i conect my surround sound system to my samsung 32 inch lcd tv using the red and white audio cables

Most if not all sets today have an RCA output labeled digital audio out.
This one wire can go to your coax input on your receiver and then be selected their as your audio input while watching TV.
There are also on many models an Optical output the same way only better if your TV and Receiver have these it is the best.
Next best is a new Receiver with HDMI inputs which the one cable does it all and new equipment will select these by it's self.

NO OSD with HDMI on Onkyo Tx-sr606

For the XBOX 360, you need to disable the Display Discovery setting.

Dark vertical shadows

No,you can't. This is very common. I bought a new tv and i noticed right away that it had the problem you are mentioning. I took it back for an exchange and the next tv did not have this problem...until a year later. Now,of course it does have this problem, but it is out of warranty.

I think they make televisions very poorly today.

My Samsung YP-K3 MP3 Player That I borrowed from my friend

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

No easy fix for a TV. If still under warranty or if you have no electronic repair experience you should take the set back to the shop or to a repair person. TV's are very hazardous to service. Even when plugged out, TV's can store very high voltages. As long as there's no burning smell, and the set is okay even when hot, after running for awhile, it's possibly bad connections on the convergence board. If you have some decent soldering skills and a familiarity with the insides of a TV, you may even save yourself a repair bill by getting some bad solder connections cleaned up. If its not the connections it could be the STK chips, or the board itself. Take care
