I have a relay wiring problem

I need to be able to reverse the direction of a winch. it was working with two simple relays when one of the workers took apart the harness. I am able to wire it to go in one direction, but I need it to reverse.

Can I wire a superwinch rocker switch directly to the battery instead of splicing into the key switch for the atv

you can but the heavy current draw to the winch will burn it out
you will have to incorporate a relay in the circuit to carry the heavy winch current

I installed a new Polaris winch on my 570 and it powers out but not in any ideas?

Jeff, The winch direction is controlled by the contactor and (polarity/relay) is switched using the switch/controller on the handle bars. I think you are dealing with one of a few possible situations. Lets narrow them down. 1) The winch motor. Bad in one direction only? this is highly unlikely. The body of the winch is electrically grounded properly or it would not run in the out direction..You may be able to manually reverse polarity to test the motor. If you do not understand this concept, then don't attempt anything that could make a short. 2) The contactor is a relay that has very delicate copper studs. If you over torqued them during the install, they easily break off. The contactor is the most likely issue. Double check the studs and ensure the wiring pattern is correct to and from the contactor. Ensure the wires/nuts washers are not touching the other leg of the contactor/studs - i.e. anything that could make a short. 3) The handle bar switch may be defective or wired wrong. Isolate the switch and make sure it works properly with a volt meter/continuity test.

I have personally experienced broken contactor studs, defective contactors and damaged handlebar switches. It took time to properly isolate and repair the issue.

I pinched my remote plugin cable and broke one wire. I spliced the wire and the winch still won't work. Is there a reset button or a fuse which may have shorted out? The winch is a m12000 from 1997.

Is the hot wire connected directly to the battery? Did you check to see if the wire is hot after you spliced it? There may be fusible link in the wiring or the wiring may be broken somewhere else. You can also try running a new hot wire from the battery to rule out a faulty winch. Trace the wire from the winch to its source of power, ie fuse box or battery

Was installing a winch on my 2009 prowler 700 xtx hooked positive cable to selanoid winch did not work, hooked direct to battery, works, rig wont start

Where did you ground the winch motor? You need a separate, heavy duty, switch with a relay to transfer the positive side voltage properly... DO NOT ground to the battery..use a clean, free of paint, place to ground. You may have fried the not connect the positive side to the solenoid. Direct connection to the + battery from the relay is good with a good waterproof fuse in line. Sometimes I have seen the "maint. free" batteries die when used "wrong" and still show 13 volts+.

Relays click constantly in forward and reverse and unit does not run.

If the relays constantly click, your motor is shorted out and bad causing your thermal breaker to trip and open the relays. You will have to replace the motor.

Superwinch LT2000 will only work one way? Help?

you may have burned the controller a winch works by reversing the polarity remove the two nuts on the winch itself that the wires go to and reverse the wires now your winch should only work in the other direction if this is the case has some pretty reasonable priced controllers

Reversing valve installed backwards on goodman heat pump have a simple comfort 2000 thermastat the defrost cycle doesn't work . can the reversing valved be wired on the terminal board to accomadate this...

You should be able to move the reversing valve wire from O terminal, (the changeover relay), on the thermostat to B terminal. I deal mostly with York
which O on the t'stat is normally open and B is normally closed.
