We have an amana ac. It recently started making a loud noice from the furnace closet which is upstairs. 2 different ac repair companies came out but could not find anything wrong. The line to the outside...

Hello, if the line is freezing there is either a airflow problem or low refrigerant charge. If there is a loud noise most likey the bearings on the motor or the blower wheel is bad and causing a lower amount of air passing over the evaporator coil and thus the freezing of the suction line.

All the coils on the unit outside froze up

Hello, if the inside fan was not running then the evaporator coil cannot absorb enough heat to vaporize the refrigerant, and the suction line will freeze including the compressor. Liquid refrigerat instead of vapor passes thru the suction line into the compressor. Lack of airflow or a low refrigerant charge is what will cause the line to freeze. In your case it was no airflow

My fan isn't running but I can feel cold air leaking out of my vents. Is it frozen or is my fan motor just dead?

If the indoorcoil is froze, the insulated suction line would be froze as well. If you are able to change the
blower speeds Black-High Speed with Blue-Med High
and nothing changes you could have a blower problem

Superheat Problem

Superheat is the dif. between suction temp on the gauge and temp on the suction line. Make sure you are measuring the right line/ Normal superheat is between 10 to 14 degrees depending on line length. Russ

Leaves in the skimmer line and its plugged

Is the obstruction on hte suction side or supply side of the pump?

Either way, you can disconnect the pump, and work from there. If the pump was installed correctly there shgould be unions ( fitting that can be reconnected on the pump suction and supply. If not, you can cut the pipes a few inches from the pump and then shorten the remainder to acomodate the length of the union. Glue these in place follow the instructions on the glue can.

Try using a water hose with the water on from the direction of the pump to the pool. see if this does the job. Leaves should be able to be pulled through by the oumop, I suspect somthing larger. Do you have a strainer on the suction line? Have you checked the pool filter?

I would check the filter first. Why do you think the problem is a clogged line? How do you know the pump is performing? Does it run a Spa, and nbot the pool?
\Good Luck

Unit continue to run nonstop

possibly two or more problems. drain may be plugged and therefore no water dripping from it. attach a good wet dry shop vac and **** it out. listen for good suction at in door coil when vac is attached outside . feel large insulated line outside . it should be ice cold to touch but not frozen . if it is kinda cool then your low on gas. if its froze you are low on gas or dirty filter ,coil , or blower wheel. .you can measure temp drop between return air in and supply air out at the in door blower . it is usually 18 to 20 dgrees , in at 80, out at 60 so to speak. greater than 2o and you have a restriction like dirty or filter or froze up. less than 15 you are low on gas or inefficient compressor. be sure your fan is in the auto mode , not the on mode or indoor fan will run 24-7.
