yes it is on its own circuit. Everything else i plug in on the same socket is fine apart from the washing machine. When I switch the power on the machine it cuts out and trips the switch on the main electric box.

    Thank you

Why does my dryer trip main fuse box for sockets in house if i switch dryer on

tripped the breaker once and OR after the breaker was reset

Intermittent problems are always difficult to diagnose because the problem usually doesn't occur when you're making the checks.

If ran additional loads the problem will not be an electrical short with one of the DRYER parts. If the lid switch had a short it wouldn't run additional loads.

if the additional loads used the same cycle as previously. A timer can have an internal short that might trip the breaker in heavy duty cycle but not the permanent press cycle.

If you have access to a clamp on amp meter, see the image below, then you can check the amp draw of the washer. The washer normally will draw about 10-15 amps at start up and about 5-8 amps while running. The house breaker for you APPLIANCE should be rated at 20 amps.

If the washer is running and drawing less than 20 amps and the breaker trips then if can be a weak house breaker.

The key to this problem is what the amp draw of the MACHINE is when the house breaker trips.

To narrow this problem down, there are three places that could be causing the ( outlet) GFCI to trip, a malfunction in the machine, a problem with the downstream wiring (aka load side of the GFCI-other items connected on same circuit), or the GFCI outlet itself. If there isn't anything downstream, then plugging the machine into another GFCI outlet, or simply swapping out the outlet for a known good GFCI outlet, will identify if the outlet itself is faulty.
If the outlet trips when the machine isn't running and isn't even plugged in, then there's a fault in the wiring on the load side of the GFCI outlet.
If the issue is neither of the above, then running the machine and monitoring to see which step is occurring when the trip happens will isolate what part of the washing machine may be leaking current to a ground. It could be a certain water level, a motor being engaged, a transition step in the controller, etc
Beware some techs believe that most machines or any other motor should not be on a GFCI! Should be a dedicated single receptacle. If there are other outlets on the washer GFCI, replace that GFCI with a single receptacle and put the GFCI on the next jump in order to protect other outlets.

Another item to check is ur lid switch which may have gotten moister inside and created a short_ or broken open and the rubber seal dried out over time, and the switch assembly will be exposed. water can splash onto the assembly, somehow causing the GFCI to trip. In any event, if you are having trouble with your machine stopping mid-cycle for any reason, test and replacing the lid switchis probably a worthwhile idea, as it is cheap and easy to replace.
By the way my advice is free cuz God is good!

My beko wma620w would fill with water and drain but that was it,no washing spinning anything.Got advice and was told it was the carbon brushes.Bought new brushes and got someone to fit them ..Now the...

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

Please note that I pre-typed this some time ago for others, to cover for similar symptoms as your initial problem but I do think the advice is relevant. Sorry.
It does sound as if the motor requires replacement unless it is the control board not powering the motor.
Now, a word or two of advice from a retired Englishman in SW France. It might be suggested that just the brushes on the motor want changing; experience (of others) suggests that they may only last months rather than many years UNLESS the motor itself is refurbished. Refurbishment includes skimming the commutator on which the brushes run. Without skimming the brushes do not sit cleanly on the com, often causing excessive sparking and excessive wear on BOTH (and tripping electrics!) Alternately a new motor! I changed the motor on our 19+ year-old Bosch at a cost of GBP250 ;-0(
If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

I have just had a saniflo installed. When I put the power on it knocks the trip switch on the box straight off.

That means that somehow water got inside the pressure chamber which is where all the electrical components are, if it senses water it will trip the GFI and the unit will shut off completely. You may have to replace the whole pressure chamber since water may have corroded the electrical components.

Hi, knocking off some plaster in my living room, my fuse box tripped, some numpty had buried bare cables under it, if i knock the switch back on, it pops and knocks off again, could it be a fuse problem ??

The problem is not in the fuse.
It only shows that's the fuse doing its job.
You have a short circuit my friend that's why your fuse tripped because it is guard to avoid further damaged to you and your property.

I've adviced you to look for a qualified electrician to locate the short circuit.
Once it was isolated by the electrician it will be back to normal again.

Washing machine trips electric when fills with water

From the symptons described, I would suspect that the heating element is faulty, disconnect the heater, and try it again, if it does not trip, then replace heater.

Dryer tripped out during cycle and knocked off all downstairs sockets. Have had element tested and found no fault. Tech suggested plug dryer in without the element to see if trips (to eliminate element)...

An electric dryer must be on a circuit by itself. If you lost power to downstairs sockets, you will need an electrician to separate the 120volt side from the 240volt side. You may not have a problem at all with the dryer. If another appliance was operating at the same time as your dryer, that appliance would have overloaded your circuit and tripped the breaker. Please have this looked into by an electrician to avert a possible fire!
Your tech should have recognized this situation or maybe I have misunderstood the issue, but I gave my opinion based on the question above,

If my assistance helped resolve this issue, please show your appreciation by rating how effective my advice was in resolving this issue.
Thank you,

Washing machine keeps tripping electric switch

there is a few things that will do this to your electics 1st & formost if your trip switch is tripping off remember this is a safty device to prevent fire so ignoring the problem & switching the power back on to try again could run the risk of fire!!

when the power trips you will need to know at what point in the wash this happens if its when the machine is emptying then it would be a pump issue if the machine is emptying no problem then the issue is more likely to be the motor either of which would need to be replaced if you are having these problems.

on rare ocasions you can spring a leak & if water gets on the electrics this will also trip the power but this is 1 of the least likely posabilatys.. rest assured if the power is tripping off then your home electrics are working fine & to confirm all sockets run from 1 main fuse all lights run from a second main fuse then there is a few other bits that run on there on fuses too i.e. cooker, power shower etc.. remember always get a qualified electrician to work on your electrics to ensure the job is carried out correctly

Hope this helps
