Question about Yamaha RX-V663 Receiver
I am of the opinion that the video connections on receivers are little more than glorified "extension cords" with only a couple of exceptions reserved for standard definition monitors. Otherwise, connecting your device with video output directly to the TV or projector is the best choice...unless of course you have an outboard dedicated video processor, which the performance of cannot approached by any receiver.
However...to use the on screen receiver menu, the "monitor out" connection of any type to an available input on the TV will suffice.
