Question about Kenmore 98702 Stacked Washer/Dryer

1 Answer

Squeaky dryer I have sprayed WD40 on the pully, but this dryer is squesking really bad! The thing is that it doesn't always do it. It seems like it warms up and it's ok for awile and then it will start again. Do you think that the belt needs to be replaced, and where can you get one, if so?

Pulley needs replaced, all the grease has left the bearing inside from heat and wear. WD-40 evaporates.

How do I fix a squeaky belt on a minivan?

Post question is automotive section?

Is belt squealing? or is there a squeaky noise?

Squealing would denote belt slippage... belt might be loose, apply more belt tension at idler pulley (if possible). Consider trying a spray-on 'anti-slip" compound.

Squeaky noise could mean a bad pulley bearing.

My friend just install a serpantine tensioner pully & a belt on my 2000 2.4 grand am... but since then there's an annoying squeaky noise whenever I'm driving... he told me it will stop after a while b

double check the belt length if its too short even a little it can cause a squeak.also make sure there is no oil on any of the pulleys as well make sure the tensioner was installled properly and the pulley is the correct one.this does happen if someone doesn`t take the time to make sure of this and assumes they have been given the correct parts.

Sometime (but lately more often) a squeaky dryer drum - we've tried various sizes of loads - doesn't help.

Hello,

The usual thing that will make a noise such as what yoou hear is the drum support rollers,i suspect that what me wrong with your dryer BUT kenmore is made for a couple different manufactures so depending on your model# it may use different parts...when writing in for advice in the future ALWAYS include your model number

this video shows how to replace the drum rollers if it is teh model i suspect it is

My dryer was squeaking really bad, so I sprayed WD 40 on the pulley & belt, squeaking stopped but the dryer also stopped turning. The pulley still turns but the dryer drum doesn't

The belt is slipping now. Need to clean the WD40 off, use methylated spirits, isopropyl or rubbing alcohol on a cloth.

The dryer squeals on start up and quiets after 40 seconds or so. I took it apart and the belt and pulley seem ok. How do I know if they are worn? I thought it was a problem with the felt liner at either...

Sorry to read about your problem, I hope this helps you out.

you have a drum bearing, going bad, or your belt tension pully. it stops squealing because the unit heats up and the metal expands. you can also try spraying (WD40) the belt tension pulley..

Very squeaky belt or pully, use to stop when gas pedal applied but now squeaks when gas pedal applied and most idle times. Been using wd40 but doesn't work as good now

1999 probably has a serpantine belt (multi grooved). I would guess that you may have a squeaky belt or more likley a bad bearing in on of the idler pulleys. Remove the belt and spin the idlers by hand. If one feels rough or makes noise replace it.

My dryer work, but has a noise when it is driying.

You may just have a squeaky pulley. If you take off the back and turn it on you should be able to locate it.Hit it with a little wd40 or silicone spray.
