Question about Miele 23 in. Novotronic G841 Built-In Dishwasher

What would cause white residue on plastic? Plastic containers, black handles and high heat plastic material type utensils com out with a white powdery feeling residue on them. It takes scrubbing & hot water to remove it. I've tried 2 different types of powder, the 1st I had been using for over 3 years with no previous problems. Any thoughts?

With the reformulation of detergents, it's becoming a common problem. You can try a liquid with water softener in it, and slightly hotter water. It might help. The environmentalists have made the manufacturers reformulate a lot of cleaning products to the point that, vinegar and water is almost as good as the newer detergents.

Dishwasher is not cleaning the dishes, leaving a white residue on the bottom and front of the machine

Hi fmitchell,

White residue is normally caused if you use a very high heat setting. Reduce the heat and things should improve.

Also remember to check the Salt container at the bottom of the machine, replace salt if necessary.

Kind Regards

Jacques

Recently the dishes have a grainy feel and the glasses have white smears on them. Some of my kitchen cooking utensils which are made of a black material are all coming out coated in a white file

The problem is most likely that there is still water residue at the bottom of your machine. If the machine is not fully drained it picks up some of the residue and sprays that onto the dishes during the final rinse, leaving an unhealthy and unsightly film on everything.
Remove the bottom strainers and make sure that there is nothing obstructing the outlet pipe and the pump. If possible back flush through the outlet pipe and try draining the machine again before using it again.

My dryer wont heat or spin

Heat: thermal fuse attached to the exhaust duct on the back panel of the gas dryer, usually surrounded by a black resin material situated in a housing made of white plastic, if there is a lot of lint built up it will cause it to blow
Spin: belt , motor, switch

Plastic is melted onto the heating element. is this a problem? what should i do?

I am assuming the dishwasher is not working.

You will need to check where the plastic has come from. The temperature has to be very high for the plastic to melt. This can happen if the dishwasher heater has been on with no water in the dishwasher. Normally the controller should not allow this. Also the thermostat should cut in to prevent the temperature from going high.

Most likely it is not plastic but a problem in the wash pump which is causing some residue to circulate in the water and deposit on heating element.

In any case, try to scrape off as much of the material as you can and then run the dishwasher with a Finish dishwasher cleaning kit. The instructions are on the kit label.

Hope this helps. Please rate the solution.

The cycle did not complete, the bottom spray arm (the tip) melted along with some plastic utensils (knife handles). Water come out of thee front door. When starting the washer again, the top and bottom spays...

The handles slipped down keeping the spray arm from rotating thus causing it to rest against the heating element. It won't wash because of the hole in the bottom spray arm. You have to replace the spray arm before nything else can be determined.
