1. Click "Start," then choose "Control Panel.
2. Open "Programs and Features." This icon is present in Windows Vista and 7. If you're a Windows XP user, open "Add or Remove Programs."
3. Click "Norton Antivirus.
4. Click "Uninstall/Change." The Norton Antivirus setup utility will open up on screen. Select the "Repair" option and click "Next" to reinstall Norton Antivirus on your computer.

  • Hi, if your trying to "Re-install the Norton Security Software, and you had a problem or error while "Installing"; do the following: check the "Firewall," check to see if the Firewall is blocking the "Program" from being downloaded. Next check to see if there is already a "Security" software setup on the computer that is "conflicting with the download / reinstalling. You may need to have someone that have experience in checking theses areas if you have trouble finding them. I'm going to give you direct instruction to go to these areas you need to check. First, click on the "Start Button" when the window open, look in the (right side pane area) find the "Icon, Control Panel, click on it to open. There will be alot of listings, choose the "Security; Allow a program through Windows Firewall." There will be (3) buttons in the "Top" area of the next window, select the "Exception" button, click on the "Add program..." the window will change again, scroll through the "Programs until you find "Norton Security" and "highlight' just click on it, and "Click on the OK button. Restart the computer open the "software" you want to "Install / Reinstall and select to Install; follow all the instructions. Now if there is another security software interfering with the install, you have to go back to the "control Panel again, select to open, in the next window click on the (Programs) "Uninstall a program," find the software (highlight to uninstall), once you are finished, restart the computer; this will fix everything properly, if all goes well. I had to reinstall windows xp pro but now I can't connect to the internet. I know I'm missing something, like maybe the chipset or something.

If you reinstalled the operating system, you will also have to reinstall the drivers for your hardware (so you'll have to go to the HP site and download them). This is most likely the problem. You can verify it by opening the device manager and looking for the network adapter. If it has an exclamation point on it it will need drivers.
Since you haven't said anything else about your problem, I assume this is the answer.

It was reinstalling os on my friends machine and

possibly the updates installed may have something to do with the problem. how about doing system restore prior those last updates you installed, see if you can get it back to when the wireless nic was working.

something else you may want to try is to uninstall the driver for the device and reinstall fresh. I strongly suggest that you use the driver that you may find in the website instead of the one that came with the device.

If you have the OS disks try a repair first. Run the OS disk and choose the repair option rather than reformatting. That usually fixes ntldr issues.

Sound doesn't work after reinstalling windows

yes sometimes you need sound you have motherboard disc handy? if so just play and install sound drivers from that cd..start/settings/controlpanel/system/hardware/devicemanager

all the items you see with excemation mark needs drivers after a reinstall of XP..good luck and i hope it helps you..

My outlook 2007 is closing!

  1. On the Help menu, Try Office Diagnostics --> Continue --> Start Diagnostics
  2. If not , best way is to reinstall outlook, goto add/remove programs and select Microsoft Office,then Install/Uninstall; A menu will pop allowing you to choose repair or reinstall.
A reinstall will do it!!

Try removing and reinstalling your printer in the control panel, then reboot your system; the device driver might be damaged.
This will force Win to search for and reinstall the driver.

you have to have cd or usb to reinstall.... if you reinstall windows it wipes data on the drive in which you are installing windows i.e C:....
