Question about ViewSonic VX924 19" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

My ViewSonic VA712b monitor blacks out for a second or two and then works normal. It may happen `5x/HOUR. It may be stuck in analog but I tried both analog and digital and it does it in both. A little blue square comes up and says analog. Any ideas?

It may be indicating that the power supply may be failing. You may want to look inside for bad caps in the power supply section.
I believe this is same chassis as VA921B: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/Viewsonic%20VA912B/
Please look through my albums to see failed monitors due to bad caps.

VGA connection works, DVI does not

Everything seems perfectly normal...

When you connect the computer to the monitor via an analog VGA cable, you get signal on the analog input.
When you connect them via a DVI cable, you feed the monitor's DIGITAL input, so the monitor doesn't get any signal on it's analog input, and informs you about it.
You have to select the digital input from the monitor's On Screen Menu, and then start the computer up - you should see the picture OK.
Also remember to set the display resolution on your computer to match the optimum (native) resolution of your monitor - this will give you optimum picture quality. In case of VA712B it will be 1280x1024.
Good luck and please come back with a testimonial if helped.

Viewsonic VA712b lost Power Supply need voltage & current

davsmith00, Did you look on rear of VA712B where the power plug enters the power JACK connector? Maybe it will only tell you who is positive and who is negative (gnd) some monitors state what is the required V & I for them on the rear labels somewhere. This will teach you not to lose your supply. Did the dog hide it under the bed? Good luck finding a replacement. There are sources on web that specialize in drop-in replacement IN-LINE switch-mode-power-supply Bricks. You can also try newark.com and mouser.com and digikey.com to see if they have something. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel@ aim.com Bye for now.

No digital signal but analog works fine

Seems like this was already answered? But once you've checked against the owner's manual and ruled out the PC, I would suspect the signal / video board inside the monitor. May have gotten a surge or static, etc.
