The control pad is showing the oven as heating up, but the oven never gets hot. It was working the day before. The stove works.

    Thanks

Same problem, it lights, burns fine, but will not build up any flames to heat properly

    Same problem with me

  • peterj47 Nov 13, 2008

I have a similar problem though it appears to be not consistent. Only occasionally slow to heat. When it is slow to heat there is a sometimes a slight gas smell and yet when I check the flame the oven burners are burning. Is there a chance that the gas pressure is not high enough? The ingniter seems to be doing its job correctly.

Hotpoint oven won't heat above 250 degrees broiler works fine as well as the stove top

either its the oven sensor rod located at the top of the ovens cavity,or your bake element could be getting a hot spot which is when it gets a discolored spot in the element and can no longer pass sufficient current to heat the oven past 250 degrees

Oven would not light. I replaced the igniter and now it lights but it will not heat past 200 degrees. Is this the thermostat acting up or is this connected to the gas supply? Any suggestions??? My oven...

when you say now it lights. is just the ignitor lighting?or can you hear the gas flowing??? can you feel it heating at all?? should start at 100 degrees and climb up from there. no reason for it not to heat past 200 (unless set to Celsius which default setting of 350 =190degress) therefore will not heat past 200. and wont let you try to heat to 425 , that would be off the charts of Celsius conversion. sensor problem would eitherno t let stove come on or wouldnt stop from heating eitherway a code would come up in the display

Oven Pre-heats too high

Your oven sensor has gone bad and telling the control board/thermostat to keep heating. Find the model number on the range and go to a parts distributor like repairclinic.com or apdepot.com and order you sensor. This is an easy repair.

Oven not heating properly - 25-50 degrees off - do I look at the heating element or what do I do?

if its off but heats fully i.e. 500 degrees then check for a defective thermocouple or oven temp control not an element

Creda oven

you might have already thought of this, buy an oven thermometer you can pop in the oven.
I bought one from my local cook shop
I have a the same cooker and similar problem - mine gets hotter by 50 degrees so I set the temperature 50 degrees lower than needed.
I noticed the problem a few years a go and luckily hasn't got any worse.
