# of rings

We have an automated voice messaging system that is programmed to pick up after 6 rings but it keeps picking up after 3 or 4, how do we fix this?

Is this something that started recently or has it been hapening since its been instaled? Also, is it the same message or does it sound different?

  • infinaud May 13, 2010

This happened after we had a power outage and my boss removed the card to reset it. At that time I reprogrammed everything and the messaging system is working fine, the only problem we have is with the # of rings before it picks up.

I already did what you suggested before I posted my problem. I did go back to check that the settings were correct and they are. Do you have any other suggestions?

That was it! Thank you so much for your help.

The place to set rings to answer is # 506 (VMS hunt delay)selecting either 1 for the day schule or 2 for the night schedule. You'll also want to check #507 (VMS hunt schedule) to make sure your line is in the correct schedule and not following the alternate schedule.

Did you set the call distribution (#206) to assigned or VMS cover?

DON'T NO WHY MY ANSWERING MACHINE IS NOT PICKING UP MY CASLLS

You need to program the internal voice mail to pick up calls after 6 rings , or program your answering machine to pick up sooner, perhaps 3 or 4 rings.

Voice Mail Pick up

Changing the vms hunt delay on a Partner ACS system is done on either ext 10 or 11. At one of those ext's press the feature key and "00"
next press the left hand intercom twice
the display should say system programming
enter in "#505"
the display should say VMS Hunt Delay and mode:
enter 1 for day mode or 2 for night mode
enter line you want to program in 2 digit format (line 1 =01)
enter number of rings (2)
press feature "00" to logout

Uniden Dect1560 - For incoming calls it only rings 3 times. Is there a way to make it ring 6 times before it goes to voice mail?

Your model is a phone only, without an answering machine built in. This means that voicemail is provided by your phone service on your line, and that's where you need to adjust the rings before it picks up. The phone itself has nothing to do with it.

You may have to call your service provider for setup instructions because not all systems are the same, but here's how it usually works. Pick up your phone and call your own number to reach your voicemail. When your message starts, press the * button and the system will ask for your pass code (just like when you call to get your messages). Follow the voice prompts to reach the main menu, then mailbox settings, where you'll be able to change the ring count.

If these steps don't work for you, ask your service provider what you need to do.

Auto attendant does not pick

What kind of phone system? If Partner, it sounds alot like you lost all your programming, so the phone system isnt programmed to know where the voicemail is. So hwen a call comes in, the ports where the voicemail is, ring, so they pick up, but dont know what they are to do with the call, so they shove it to the receptionist.

#505 needs to be programmed, then #206, that will get you to at least asnwer incoming calls.

Need to know more, like WHAT KIND OF SYSTEM.

Message retrieval

There are easy ways to do this externally, but most dealers either don't know about them (because they don't read the manuals themselves) or simply are too lazy to turn them on. So much for my soap box.

This way always works: Get into the Voice Mail/Automated Attendant system somehow and then press #6 (that's two buttons # and 6). Then dial * and your mailbox number.
