Heater Element for Hunter Niteglo Humidifier is not working

Heating elements are pretty reliable. They usually have a thermal fuse or thermostat that will open before ruining the element. If your handy with a multimeter, you can check the continuity of the parts and the element itself.

Hello im not familiar with this model, but looking at the schematic for the models its similar to a heater blower. as you say it is heating up but only blowing cool are but the thermostat is turning off as its getting hot, the only thing i can find that would make it do this is if its blocked on the heater element, or the heater element is only half working, the device has a thermal fuse on the heating element this could also be a problem you would need to remove the try that hold the heater element ands test the heater element with a meter to see if its working if that's fine, then one of the thermal switches would be at fault. there is alot of model number for this brand but they all have the same setup. the panel for the heat looks like it only has 2 screws hold it in place, but disconnect the fuse before opening the unit. there is 2 setting on the heater elements that means there is 2 elements one top and one bottom in the case. there is also 2 thermostats on this model im looking at that are for the heater controls these would when they get to the temp required turn the elements on and off. there is also a thermal fuse that if the element gets to hot with turn it off. check these. remember dont open the unit until the power is off and disconnected from the mains supply . personally i would think the thermostat switches need replacing, these are cheap to replace the part number is on them use the same part number to get the right part ebay or heating suppliers will have these parts in stock, they wear out as they the only moving parts apart from the fan but thats working or you would not have cool air.

My Frigidaire model FDB1050 will not heat the water. The heating element checked out at bout 14 ohms but the approximately 8" wire from the heating element to what I think is a thermostat is slightl

Hello preslncon - The black button that you are referring to is more than likely the Hi-Limit Thermostat. The Hi-Limit Thermostat will open and stop power from reaching the heating element. The Hi-Limit is not resettable, and if it is open, it would need replacing. As far as the burnt wire on the Thermostat, more than likely a loose connection to the Thermostat could have possibly caused the wire to overheat. This is not a typical do it yourself job. Personally, I would recommend reaching out to a qualified appliance repair person to proceed further. I hope this information helps to some degree.

Coffe maker turns on and drips a little into the filter then stops. The coffee grounds are still dry and it doesnt make coffee. The plate is hot. The coffees not.

First check that the thermo switch is not opening at to low a temperature. Can you measure the hot plate temperature? It should be over 180 degrees. If not then it the thermo. I would replace the Thermo switch, These are not soldered in because of the heat application. You must use mechanical connections, such as crimp splicing.

The other option is that the water can't flow into the heating element Or from the element. There is a one way value in the feed path that needs to be checked that it is functioning. You can test it with straws on units that do not have a removable water tank. locate the water drain in the tank and take the straw and place it at that drain and blow hard. You should hear air flow through the unit and out the drip tank. You need a far amount of seal at the bottom for this to work, I built a ridged tube with a cup on the bottom. This will not work if there is a bar grid were the water is pored.

Good luck.

This tutorial will show you how to check your Smeg element and how to replace your Smeg cooker element.
Here are the 3 main faults to look for in your oven or cooker that is not heating
  1. Your oven will not work until the clock/timer has been re-set after replacing an oven element or tripping the electrical supply. Consult your Smeg manual.
  2. If your Oven is not getting hot or heating up it could be a faulty element, if the fan in the oven is running and the thermostat light is on, this will lead us to believe that the element has gone faulty. With grills the thermostat light should come on there should be heat, if not then this could be the grill element or the thermostat.
  3. When you turn the oven on, the household electrical supply trips on the Rcd (this is the earth trip in the fuse board sometimes called the breaker tripping) your fan oven element has gone to earth and needs replacing.

To blow the house trips it must be the element

Thermostats do not normally go short circuit.

The elements can be replaced quite easliy and cheaply

I would check that the fan is turning freely before you buy the element

If you have 240 VAC across the element, but the element is not heating, then you have a bad element. If you don't have 240 VAC at the element, then work your way back with the voltmeter to find where the voltage is dropping
