My whirlpool duet electric dryer electrical systems and heat work fine, but drum won't turn and belt is in tact.

Check the motor capacitor, sometimes the capacitor could be faulty or the motor is faulty or check if the motor is receiving power,if it's receiving power try to replace the capacitor if the is any in the system,if still it's not working then the motor could be burnt.

Also check weather the timer is perfecty.

I can see the heat come on but there is no rotation of the clothes the bucket that holds the clothes is not rotating

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT.
Sounds like your problem may be a broken belt, or the belt may have slipped off of the motor pulley, or idler arm pulley.
If you have to replace your drum belt and if you have a front loading machine.
Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer.
Be real careful not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch.
Then remove the top of the dryer.
Remove the front of the machine, this will expose the belt and drum, remove
the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm bracket
with pulley, and motor with pulley.
Pay attention to the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go
to reinstall the belt and drum.
Sometimes the belt will slip off of the idler arm or motor causing the drum
not to turn.
While you have the drum out, I would recommend that you lubricate the drum
rollers at the shaft of the roller with a good grade of machine oil like 3
in One oil. This will save you a problem later with the rollers getting
noisy, also check your drum rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots
on them this will cause a noise like a thumping type noise.
You will need to replace the drum rollers if they have flat spots on them.

Dryer's drum won't rotate, but heat & timer works.

Hello there:
This is normally caused by a belt that has either broke or the motor for the belt has failed and locked up
S o what i would do is to first see if you can manually turn the drum by hand and if so than if you turn on the dryer and hear the motor that turns the drum running or humming you can assume that the motor is ok and that he belt has failed in this case get a new belt and the appliance parts store should be able to give you the proper diagram on how the belt needs to back on but if not let me know and i will be able to get it for you ok? now if you do not hear the motor hum than try to unplug the machine and leave sit for 30 min and than plug it back in and than see if it now tries to run but if no motor sound than youwill know that the motor has either failed and needs to be replaced or that there is a problem with the thermal fuse that is on the controle panel behind the start button ok
i can help if there is any more issues that you need help with.
Hope this is very helpful for you.
Best regards michael

I have a Kenmore 80 series and the motor is not running but the heating coil comes on, what can be the problem? I have traced all wires and they appear to be OK

You could have a faulty motor, or possibly a faulty timer switch.
Try this:
Unplug the dryer, reach inside and try to rotate the drum 1/4-1/2 turn.
Plug the dryer back in and push the start button and see if it starts to rotate.
Sometimes motors get dead zones in them and this will help rotate the motor out of the dead zone.
If this does not solve the problem then the thing I would check is the motor.
Again unplug your dryer from the electric. Remove the box on top of the dryer that contains the timer switch, start switch, etc.
Be real careful not to knock any wires loose off of the timer switch.
Remove the top of the dryer, then remove the front of the dryer to expose the drum and belt, remove the drum and belt to expose the idler arm with pulley and motor. Now is a good time to check the condition of the belt and the drum rollers also. I will suggest that you oil the drum rollers at the shaft with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in One oil. This will save a problem of a squeaky roller in the future. If the drum rollers have flat spots on them they will have to be replaced.
Then check your motor.
Note: Make sure you note how the belt route is, this will come in handy when you go to put everything back together.
If the motor checks out ok, then I would think it is the timer switch, you will have to replace the timer switch as they are not repairable.
I will include a couple of websites that have parts and live chat assistance:

Good Luck,
I hope this helps.

Extremely low drum heat but setting is on HIGH.

Electric (Kenmore - 60931) dryer takes forever (several cycles) lately to dry clothes set on high heat (actual heat in tub feels low though). There are no obstructions in the venting and the 240 volt connection is fine. The timer rotates the dial (timer motor working). Help!!!

My dryer will not start. It is not locked. I've turned it off and unplugged it for 30 minutes. All the buttons work fine, but the timer just flashes when I push the start button. Help!

If dryer does not spin it is usually a problem with the belt or the motor. Check also door switch.

See also following indications from Repairclinic:

It won't tumble If your dryer doesn't tumble, check these:

Belt
Motor
Door switch
Belt Dryers have a drive belt that turns the clothes drum. If the belt breaks, the drum stops rotating. Then you need to replace the belt, and often the idler pulley, because the pulley tends to wear out at the same time.

Click here for a belt installation diagram.

Motor If the dryer motor only hums when you press the Start button, the motor may be burned out. Here's how to test the dryer motor:

  • Remove the belt.

  • Check for obstructions in the blower fan housing.

  • Manually rotate the shaft of the motor.

If the motor is very stiff, or impossible to rotate manually, and the blower fan housing is clear, you need to replace the motor.

If the motor rotates freely, run the motor momentarily with the belt removed and the blower in place. If the motor runs fine with the belt removed, there may be a problem with the idler pulley or the clothes drum. Try to rotate the drum by hand. If it is very difficult to move, correct any problem with the rollers or pulley, and then reassemble the dryer and try it again.

If the motor hums but doesn't rotate on its own even with the belt removed--yet you can turn it freely by hand--you usually need to replace the motor or the motor start capacitor.

Door switch Your dryer can't operate at all if the door switch is defective. It's inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.
