How can I get my machine to shut itself off when humidity goes down to 55 and turn on when it goes up igher?

wow 55 is kinda low , id think a little more realistic number to set your machine to achieve would be 70% rh as lots of folks don't know this, that its just as important to have unit cycle off as it is to be on , this provides a cool down/thaw cycle and keeps unit working for years , if your unit has no %rh readout on it , a simple purchase of a external meter placed in the room would work just fine and I find there now available just near everywhere and not for a high cost

NOT SURE IF MY DEHUMIDIFIER SHUTS OFF AUTOMATICALLY AT A CERTAIN DEGREE

Dehumidifier's control By percent room Realative Humidity Or better known as rH% , if your not sure your unit is working or even cycling properly , purchase a seperate rH meter(there not expensive) and place it in same room someplace , Normal %rH for a homes room is 70%rH set your units setting for a target of that number and use the seperate meter to verify thats what it is (takes 24 hrs) , if Meter is consistent Higher or lower a reading that whats set on unit then yes you might have a problem with your unit

Daewood DHC400 works well on continuous setting, but in auto mode does not. It is showing 18 to 20 humidity while the room humidity is 50 to 60

are you sure thats not the setting thats showing not the room Rh

most homes are 70% Rh as normal !

external Rh meters can be purchased if you suspect that one on unit is not accurate for not a lot of money now

I have a GE AHH50LMG1 dehumidifier. It is less than 2 years old. When I turn it on, it displays 20% RH. The fan runs but the compressor does not kick in. I assume that is because it thinks the humidity...

Hi,
It could be just the sensor, but not likely... many times it is the circuit board that goes bad, making the repair almost prohibitive.. as the circuit board, if you can find one, is often half or more the cost of a new unit...
But you are correct... if the unit thinks the humidity is 20% then it will not bring on the compressor...that is what is happening...

The humidity reading on the setting screen reads "Lo". What does that mean?

Hi,

That just means that the humidity level is lower then 35% the lowest setting on the dehumidifier...

It will not run when showing that...

Humidity sensor reads to low and does not kick the machine on. The readout seems to always be at 20% and wont kick on till 35% Is there an adjustment i can make to tuen the unit on?

It probably doesn't need adjusting, It's simply a case that 20%, there's not enough humidity for the sensor to read. But, at 35% there is. I'd say, your dehumidifier is working as it should.
FYI - there is no adjustments to change the factory settings.

Hope this helped you, chu.

I have Haier DE45EJ-L I am confused at what the setting should be. The Temperture is 68, when I put the humidity setting at 50 it shuts down, if I put it to 38 moisture is removed from the air. All the...

The unit shuts down when set at 50% because the controller is sensing that the humidity is below 50% RH. It comes on when set at 38 because the RH is higher, so it will try and dehumidify down to 38% RH.
According to the EPA the ideal RH in a conditioned space is 48 to 54%. You can set it and leave it at 50% if you are comfortable there and the dehumidifier will automatically come on when the RH is above 50% and will automatically turn off when the RH is 50% or below.

I have the same model LG Dehumidiier with the exact same issue.

Your unit is still under one year old, and is thus still under factory warranty. This is exactly why you have a factory warranty. Use it. If you are in the USA, you can find a service provider at http://www.lge.com/us/support/repair/support-repair-provider-lookup.jsp

Bring a copy of your sales receipt to the service center to establish proof of date of purchase.

Relative humidity setting changes

My guess is the unit knows it can't reach 35% humidity, bacause it's measuring the ambient humidity. Dehumidifiers usually can't drop the RH more than around 10%.

My guess is the RH in the room is around 75% when this happens.
