Usuall the firt think to suspect is the toner cartridges. If those are ok then the next thing is the image drum and after that would be the fuse wire.

With toner usually the only time you see this happen on all the colors at the same time is when the humidity gets too high. I believe there is a humidity sensor in that model. If you have used aftermarket toner sometimes that causes problems but the problem should have showed up shortly after changing the carts.

The image drum is good for many thousands of pages and usually what you see is spots or random dots on the printed pages first.I've seen one or two just fail in about 20 years but thhats the really rare thing. Those had the coatings on the drum peal off. A new drum will be $100-$200

My suspect here would be the fusing wire or unit. This is a wire that heats up and literally melts the toner onto the paper. If it isn't heating up enough then the toner will not melt properlly and you get light or faded prints. A wire kit should be about $50

If you can replace the toner cartridges then the image drum and fuser will present no problem at all. They all snap into place about the same way.

One last thing to check is simply the print settings. Make sure that someone hasn't 'adjusted' them. You need to check the contrast/light settings on the printer panel as well as the same settings on the computer end.

As far as the squeeking during duplexing it is hard to know without hearing but usually that is the feeder belt or drive belt. If you live in a hot dry climate and have had the printer for a while the rubber may be aged or the surface polished by use so you get the squeeks. It should make some noise but not that.

ok whats happening is that they are trying to print an image of a womans face. For some reason the picture is darker and loses its clarity almost like small smudges and its loses sharpness. I removed the noise cleaned all the drums cartridges and changed the black. Also cleaned the contacts and the glass lenses in the machine behind the drums and it still comes out the same?

That definitly sounds like the image drum or fuser wire. The image drum if that is all that is wrong will print fairly normally but will be dirty or not sharp on all pages. So if you print a page of text there will be spots or dots scattered over the page. It will not be a page with nothing but clean text. If it is the fuser wire you should be seeing soft or fuzzy on all printed pages graphics or text. As I mentioned it can also be a combination of both of these so if you try a few pages of text and other images you should be able to rule out on or the other.

Brother HL-4040CDN printer colors are off, tend to be pink

There could be a number of causes for the problems your describing, but one of the most common causes of discoloration and issues with toner is a faulty ribbon sensor. A broken sensor will be unable to accurately read the ribbon and apply the correct color. I hope this helps

Colours are faded despite all toners at 25% or

If there is black "dust" all over the developer (behind the image drum assembly ) you need to replace the developer; that is uncoated toner prevenitng transference of colored toner.

MFC-9440 CN Laser Printer is producing vertical color line streak

Colored vertical streaks - looks like a transfer belt problem, and it's not user fixable. You may need a new belt unit - you can find it for around US$ 80-120, but you may want to have a technician inspect the unit first, since it could arguably be the drum instead, and you don't want to fork around US$ 100 and replace the wrong part.
You can try showing a printer sample at a print shop; by looking at the streaks it is possible to diagnose drum, fuser or belt problems.
Here you find a much more detailed page, for another printer model, but the issues are mainly the same for most color printers:

Samsung clp 600-N Color is faded and tends to not have enough red in it. Not vibrant color--just kind of blah. Ink cartridges are full and new.

There should be a setting or option to do color callibration, or color correction, if it is just printer and it use ink not toner, you have select cleaning nozel.

Color problem!

If you the image is faded and your toner supply is good, the problem is the developer blades in the imaging unit. It sounds like the magenta blade needs to be cleaned. During the normal use of the printer, there is a buildup of toner that sticks on the developer blade. The developer blade meters the amount of toner that gets to the drum that ultimately makes it to the paper. As the toner buildup increases on the blade, less and less toner that gets to the drum cause the image to fade.

To fix this problem you will need to disassemble the imaging unit and clean the blades or buy a new imaging unit. I have clean my blades and I have a document to show you if you are handy.

Black text or black print is faded in a 2" vide area

Although the drum life is at 65% it could still have a problem. It could be that the end of the drum is starved of toner or there is lumpy toner in the drum. Take out the black drum and give it a good shake then a gentle one to level the toner out and refit. Had the same with a canon unit 2 weeks ago. If still no good then a new drum is required. I bet you are using recycled drums!!
