Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

Rinnai wall heater won't lite.

Hi,
We have an old model Rinnai gas heater which is mounted in the wall. There is no model name or number on it but it appears fairly old. It has an ignition button, a button to let gas through, an off button and a setting dial at the bottom on the right hand side. The bottom left has buttons for the fan, high, low and off. Hope thats some help. I cannot get the pilot light to stay lit or the whole thing to lite. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as its really cold!

Thanks,
Dan

You may need to take the pilot assembly apart and clean the pilot orifice. If the pilot does not stay lite you may need a new thermocouple. Good Luck.

Rinnai wall heater lights but in about 5 or 10 minutes makes a wind blowing noise and goes out. Including the pilot lite.

The model number would be nice to know! I am concerned about the way you say it is vented.

I have a wall mounted tankless water heater for

It's scaled
Do you have a softener? Water must be 15 GRS/PPM or less in iron and calcium. Hot spots in unit are boiling water and are causing the noises.
Descale and flush unit following Rinnai Specs and check water hardness for compliance with Rinnai standards because too hard an inlet water will VOID the Heat Exchanger Warranty (10 year).

Need pilot light assembly for Rinnai gas heater model #REH-25-P

Unfortunately, Rinnai only sells repair parts through their authorized dealers. Contact the dealer you purchased it from. If you are not the original owner of the home/heater, you can go to Rinnai's website and search for a dealer near you. http://www.rinnai.us/direct-vent-wall-furnaces/

Hi - I have an old Glen Dimplex CLX (I think is the name) wall heater. The switch for turning on the heater broke 2 days ago. It sounded like a fuse blew. How on earth can I get this fixed?!

Hi,

You say the heater is 'old', so I assume that it's out of its 2 year warranty? Are you referring to the wall-switch or the switch on the heater itself?

The customer service department will be able to give you guidance on finding the problem and resolving it. If you call 0845 600 5111 and have your series number (top left of the unit) and model (CXL) to hand they will be able to help you.

P.S. Please don't try to take the heater apart or remove it from the wall unless you have experience in working on storage heaters, as the unit is VERY heavy!

The heater won't stay lit

Hi Tiffany,

When a gas applaince goes off it is usually because of a safety precaution. When the unit dies not detect a flame, it will shut off so that it does not fill with gas and cause damage. A flame sensor is a metal toothpick type item that is in the flame area and could be dirty, although it is two months old, this may be another problem.

But if it is charred, you will need to clean it using a soft cloth or even a well used dollar bill. Don't use abrasives, it will take the coating off of the part and cause it to wear faster.

If you are unsure, below is a link to the manufacturers website, you can get the technical information there.

We had a problem keeping the pilot light to stay on, and this site recommended that it could possibly be the thermocoupler that was causing our problems also. We ordered the thermocouple, put it on,hooked it back up and it worked great! Thank you so much.
