that model is famous for the CRTs leaking coolant onto the main board near the vertical output Ic and causing the set not to power up. Check the fuses on the main board and also look for evidence of leaking fluid which often appears as a stcky residue it should appear shiny with a bright flashlight.

The power supply caps in the light engine power supply were faulty when they were installed. You need to remove the power supply and take it to your local electronics shop where they can remove the (7) faulty 1000uf 16v electrolytic capacitors and insert new ones. If you remove the power supply yourself (takes only a philips screwdriver) and reinstall it yourself, the electronics shop shouldn't charge you for more than an hour worth of time. The caps would be about $10.

Your TV set is in protect mode .To protect further damage of some component parts.There is something internal problem inside maybe there is a shorted.

You have to remove the front screen or back panel. Every set is different.
convergence is in the menu - if you have the original remote.
