SOURCE: Bronica SQ-Ai shutter problem
There could be a number of issues with this problem. Make sure the contacts at the rear of the lens and those on the body that connect with those on the lens are clean and straight. If so, the problem may be in the shutter within the lens. There is a magnet inside the shutter that sometimes becomes contaminated and fails to hold the shutter blades open for the selected shutter speed. The face of the magnet may need to be cleaned. There are also timing switches that sometimes go bad or need adjusting. These internal problems need to be taken care of by a competent technician since the lens needs to be completely disassembled. I have also seen these shutters go bad and need to be replaced. Let's hope that's not the problem because it will be difficult to get a new shutter for the lens--but not imposible. God luck.

You'll have to remove the bottom cover. Either the mirror box or the shutter are stuck. re-cocking it is possible by moving the wind stop clear of the bottom portion of the film advance shaft.

SOURCE: shutter speed
My suggestion is an obvious one, though I messed up a job not figuring this out til afterwards! The battery. If the battery is weak or cold there will not be enough voltage to keep the magnet active and holding the shutter open for the correct amount of time. (This was confirmed by Johnsons Photopia on the phone). This will mean you may have set a slow shutter speed of say 8s but the actual speed you get will be the default manual speed of around 1/400s, which is the speed the shutter fires at when you have no battery. This will result in underexposure and the shutter sounding as if it is not holding open long enough as you describe.
If you are getting overexposure then I would expect the shutter to be open longer than needed for some reason, which would be another problem.

HI. this seems to be a battery scanning fault in the programming. try to reset the board by pulling the battery and removing all power of 30 minutes. completely drain all power from this unit for 30 minutes. if this message continues after you have rest the programming, this will confirm a serious fault within the internal program. you will have to send this device back to a pentax repair terminal for reprogramming.
