Question about GE GSS25IFR Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

I have a GE GSS25IFR side-by-side refrigerator that is making a squealing noise. This sound began a month ago where it happened once in the middle of the night and I couldn't identify it. My wife described it happening in the day, but I never heard it until a few days ago. I pulled the unit out and found a fan in the lower right side behind the unit is blowing air through some type of radiator. The tubes were very dusty, so I cleaned it and cleaned the fan blades. The sound was better for a few hours but is now getting worse. It looks like the fan is having problems spinning. I'm guessing it was running too often at some point and now the fan has worn out. I can't find a diagram to identify the part, but I'm sure I can replace it myself since it does not appear to require moving anything with refrigerant and just seems bolted in with a single electrical connector for power. Does this sound plausible, and can anyone provide a part number?

Yes replace the Condensor Fan Motor.
The fan cycles on an off whenever the compressor runs. You will want to replace it right away or your compressor can burn up from the heat. The radiator thing you cleaned is the condensor this is what takes away the heat. The part # is AP4298602 enter your model # or the part # at www.appliancehelponline.com the part is in stock and on sale.

Electrolux side by side model ew28bs85ks4 icemaker was making a grinding noise and just quit completely no ice what to do?

If you can watch the icemaker run through it's cycle, with the door open of course, try and determine where it might be hanging up.

I 'trimmed' part of the replacement kit installed by our Electrolux repair technician where it was hanging up with the motorized parts, about 5 months ago, and it began completing it's full ice-making cycle once again.
