Hi,

Let me know the Make and Model of the TV?

Do you see the same Spots even when you run DVD player or PS3 or any external device?

Do the Position of the Spots Changes? or it is Fixed?

When you press Menu, the Menu would be Over the Spots or Behind the Spots?

Let me know,so that we could Proceed.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

    Thanks for your response!!

This Samsung DLP Model is Prone to White, Black and Shut Off Problems. There could be 2 Possibilities :-

    1. Failed DMD Board ( Digital Micro Mirror Device ).It will Steady Get Worse.Cost of Repair for a Technician is around $ 500 - $600.

If you Order the Board, it Does not come with DMD in many Cases so i have left this out should you decide to do it yourself.

    http://www.tristatemodule.com

If you want to Repair it yourself, you need a Service Manual which could be bought from :-

    http://www.manualsparadise.com/

It is not easy to Replace DMD Chip without Alignment issue's.

    2. Failed Panel. This is a Common Problem with Most of the Samsung DLP's.As the Menu is behind the Spots and they are Fixed i would also doubt Panel.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

    Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

    Thanks for your response!!

As we Discuss, there could be many Possibilities. But,i have seen DMD the most Frequent in this Model with same symptoms. It could be Panel.

The New DMD Board could be around $200. You could go for used one like :-

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Fix a lot of white spots on mit65dlp serial wd65737

The white spots are pixels that are burned out. They will just gradually get worse. You will need a new screen or just replace the whole TV. Probably buy a new one for what it will cost to get a new screen put in it.

GREY SPOTS ON BACK OF SCREEN NOTICEABLE WITH WHITE

Hi if your tv is a dlp it might be an issue with the DMD board Hi,Yes your problem sounds like the DMD board. This is how it works: http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/dlp1.htm Basically the light of the lamp goes through a tunnel that carries a color wheel(rotating disc with a gamma of colors that creates the colors on your tv)then the light of the lamp goes through the DMD board which is a chip composed of around 2 million pixels that creates the images and colors. When it starts to fail it will create black bars, pixelation, color distortion or white dots on screens. Here's a video that will help you find where the DMd chip is located : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jr_9A5Xd2Q Have a blessed one!

These are called vertical retrace lines. They are going to get worse untill you find the bad capacitor(s) or replace the vertical driver/output IC. Please, if you have not the solid state repair experience, get a pro to assist you in this repair as there are no user replaceable parts inside this set. Good Luck PLease do not forget to rate this thread.
