Check with moonlite.com for a really good focuser, and what they fit.

I can not see the moon with my new telescope. i am wondering if i need to take out 2 or just one len cap from the optical tube?

This is a relector style telescope with MIRRORS-- put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the focuser. DO NOT USE the 2x barlow. Practice focusing on a distant object during the day time-- and also line up the small finder scope with the main tube--

I have the Nexstar 8. It will not auto align or manual....

First do a RESET on the hand controller and make sure TIME, DATE, and SITE, are correct.

If this does not work then RE-load the firmware in the hand controller. If that fails contact Celestron customer service.

You must set TIME, DATE, and SITE-- probably does not know your actual location. Read the manual and perform all of the setup procedures.

Some of these have a "starting position" again read the manual and make sure you are in the "home" position before you start the alignment. Read my TIP on my profile page about GOTO telescopes, and join the NEXSTAR forum on www.cloudynights.com

I just purchased an edu science 102mm telecope. I

The end with the focuser. Then put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the focuser. I believe this model is a REFLECTOR, if it is there is a mirror in the bottom of the scope.

REFRACTORS have a lens in the front of the scope.

See this:

Then read my Frequently Asked Questions TIP on my profile page. The picture you selected shows a REFRACTOR telescope.

You will need to buy another focuser like one of these.

Can't bring reflector telescope to focus.

Orion UK has a very good reputation so I'm surprised you are having a problem. However, I see they are offering this with a Crayford focuser. Most Crayfords have a lower profile than traditional rack and pinion types and they may have failed to realize this could effect back focus. If the scope is new I'd talk to them. If not, find a 2" long by 2" diameter focuser extension tube.

If it does have a traditional rack and pinion focuser it may be missing the extension tube. Many of this type have a threaded on extension tube which is used for visual work and removed for use with a 35mm camera. The solution's the same.
