Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

ON AUTO EXPOSURE THE EXPOSURE LAMP BLINKS RAPIDLY. IT ALSO BLINKS IN OTHER MODES BUT NOT AS BAD. THE COPIES HAVE DARK STREAKS FROM SIDE TO SIDE. NOT IN THE DIRECTION OF PAPER TRAVEL.

Its possible that you need to replace the drum unit; the "drum unit" release is in the middle of the copiers you will see a door, open the door, then only touch the green release lever for the drum, take it out and replace it or rebuilt if you know how to rebuilt this unit, if not you can get an after market product.

Keep in mind that wrong toner can cause streaks, smears and paper jams.

Also HERE can find few tips for solve problems (page 44)

Hope this help.

My copies are not very dark

Is the problem only with copies? Does the machine also print light?
If is it copy only, remove the glass and clean the lamp and mirrors in the scanner.
If it is both copy and print, then you should clean the laser shield glass and replace the developer.

I have a FP7113 it only makes dark copies

dark copies you mean there is a dark background but image is still there?
it is usually happens when all mirrors and **** glass becomes dirty. you should clean it
well if you mean an image with pure black copy output, probably your exposure lamp is busted or the thermostat is open. :)

Cannon 6 RE PC gives black copies

does the lamp under the platen glass turns on when copying? if not you might need a new exposure lamp...but if you get an image but its very dark, if you are mechanically inclined you can clean the mirrors and lens and the bottom of the platen glass because after many years of use dust will make the optics dirty and cause the copies to be very dark. hope this helps.

Copies have black streaks now

Dirt on the narrow glass will cause streaks through the Auto feeder, but copies should be clean if using the main contact glass if that's the case. Dirt/toner anywhere else (ie:laser optics) would cause light areas on the copies- not dark. Did this happen the very first time you used it, or shortly after? In other words, could it be coincidental? It sounds more to me, like the PCU (photoconductor/drum unit) needs replacement, or a fuser roller.
If cleaning the glass doesn't help, then one of these 2 things is causing your problem.

The settings in Auto Mode are factory set. If you want to adjust exposure and shutter speeds then you will have to shoot in Manual Mode (TV=Shutter Priority, AV=Aperture Priority, M=Full Manual)

Copies and outgoing fax quality

your machine most likely has toner spills in it.
if you send faxes face side down follow these instructions ;
1- take out toner
2- look for thin glass strip on bottom inside the machine
3-wipe clean

if you make copies side up then do the same except look for glass strip on the upper side of machine

Adjustment program

Try cleaning the Auto Exposure sensor, or disabling the AE feature in standard settings. Some copiers have exposure calibration in standard settings too. Increasing the lamp intensity may cause further premature wear down the process line. (What machine have you got?)
