Question about Electrolux Vacuums
Hi, The on/off [off/floor/carpet] switch on my Electrolux Discovery II 1500c became jammed. When I removed the screws from the handle assembly, it slipped and the parts flew apart before I could see the configuration. I need to find a diagram somewhere to ascertain the correct reassembly.
Turns out, the plastic slider/switch cover that shows on the outside of the handle and what physically moves the actual inner switch had a chuck of plastic broken on one side that was hanging it up. Luckily, the piece was right there and krazy glue worked on this particular kind of plastic [bless them].
Now, I'm having problems getting the whole assembly back together so that it will slide. The problem now is that I cannot get the switch, the nylon switch housing, a little H-shaped nylon piece that acts as a spacer/bushing/shim to hold the switch/switch assembly in place within the handle, and the outer switch slider-thing to go back together so that they fit snuggly - I have too much play and the outer switch slider doesn't get a good grasp on the actual switch to move it without the whole thing bobbing.
Is there a known schematic online somewhere that anyone knows of? I just need to see something that shows the proper config. I think I have it together right, but may be missing a piece that flew out of sight.

Hi there SmartAlec from NelsonVacuums.com.au here. I have a U6445 but i suspect there is little difference. Mine has only 2 screws as well and it also was very stiff. After a bit of medium pressure and a twist side to side mine came off.

Hi its Darran at Dyson.
The brush control is designed to switch the brush bar off automatically when you stand the machine back into the upright position. It is designed this way to protect any delicate floor surfaces when you have the machine switched on and upright and when you are using the hose.
If the brush control should be in the centre position and move forward to the "on" position when you release the head. If it is not doing this, please contact our Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK) or 1866MYDYSON (US).
