SOURCE: can,t get a nintendo wi-fi connection on nintendo

Hi,

Nintendo Dsi connects to the internet using wireless connection. You need to know the settings of your router. I've listed below the steps on how you will access the router and to obtain the information needed for you to be connected.

How to access the Router:

1. You need to know the ipaddress of your router. You can refer to the manual or check the Default Gateway of your computer (Make sure that you connect the computer to the router using an ethernet cable for you to get the Default Gateway). Click on START then RUN. Type CMD on the small box on the lower left of the screen. Type IPCONFIG on the black window and get the value of your DEFAULT GATEWAY (it starts with 192.168.x.x)

2. Open a Browser, Type the DEFAULT GATEWAY on the address bar of your Browser. It will ask you for a username and password. (Refer to the manual of your router or post a reply so that i can provide you the username and password of your router)

3. Go to the Wireless Settings Page of your router. Look for the SSID or the Network Name and theNetwork Key or Passphrase. You can personalize it so that you can easily remeber the details.

4. Make sure you connect to your SSID and enter the Network Key to make it secure.

Now that we already know the setting of the router then its now time to connect the Dsi to the network.

1. Go to Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings of the Game

2. Search for an Access Point (SSID)

3. Select your Network (SSID), If you have an open network, just click "OK" and it should work just fine! If it's a Red Padlock, it'll prompt you for a Password or Network Key. This is the reson why we access the router.

4. Test the Connection.Rate me if this helps so that i can help others.

Thanks for using Fixya.

SOURCE: internet access on the nintendo

The nintendo dsi needs a wireless router transmitting in MIXED mode, meaning that it transmits using B mode as well as G or for newer routers N mode. If it is setup to transmit in G or N only, then the DSI will not detect it.

Also, the DSI is not compatible with WPA security. You need to set up a weaker WEP security code or turn off wifi security altogether.

Also, make sure the router is broadcasting the SSID name which is the name of the wireless router.

SOURCE: No compatible access point in range - error code

The Following website lists your Error Code. Per Nintendo:
"Likely cause: It appears that the settings entered into the Nintendo DS are not compatible, or the router's broadcast settings should be changed.
How to fix: Try creating a new connection with your system. Nintendo DSi owners trying to play multiplayer games will want to be sure to read the "Trying to play online multiplayer with Nintendo DSi."

I can't connect to the internet. My DS is giving me Error Code: 51300. What can I do?

According to Nintendo's tech support website, error code 51300 means that the access point you are trying to connect to is not compatible with the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection. Try to find another access point and see if it will work then.

What does error code:51099 mean

Error Code: 51099

The only access point within range of your Nintendo DS is not configured or is not compatible with the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection (such as those found in many Hotspots).

Where are you trying to connect from?

1. Wireless Home Router (please scroll down)
2. Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector (click here)
3. Hotspot (click here)

Using a router:

1. Please make sure that your router is not on our list of incompatible routers. Click here to view the list and locate your router (if available). If it is listed as "not compatible," then it appears your router will not work with the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. Consult the compatibility chart for recommended routers, or consider purchasing a Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector. If your router is not listed as being incompatible, please proceed to step #2.
2. Ensure your router has the latest firmware installed. Visit your router manufacturer's website and look for any updated firmware that may be available (these are typically found under "downloads" or by searching for your particular model number). Contact your router manufacturer for additional assistance.

3. Make sure that your network's name (SSID) matches exactly to what you have entered in the Nintendo DS.
1. Log in to your router using the default IP (consult the router?s owner?s manual for assistance).
2. Look for the section for SSID (typically in the "wireless settings" area).
3. After you find the SSID (network name), verify in the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings of your Nintendo DS that the SSID is appearing exactly as listed in your router. This includes making sure capitalization, spaces, or special characters match exactly.

4. Check Nintendo's router info for special notes, if available, for your router.
1. Click here to go to our Wireless Router Configuration page.
2. Use the drop-down box on the left to select, if available, your router manufacturer.
3. Click on your router's model number, if available.
4. Read any "special notes" at the top of the router's page. Many issues can be solved by changing such things as the Transmission Rate.

5. Your router may not be assigning an IP address to the Nintendo DS. Try manually assigning an IP address to your Nintendo DS.
1. The first thing you'll need to do is find out what IP address your router is using. To do this:
1. Click the "Start" button in the lower left-hand corner of your computer.
2. Click "Run."
3. Type "cmd" into the box and press Enter.
4. Type "IPCONFIG/ALL" and press Enter. The IP address displayed of the PC will be displayed.
The IP address you going to assign to the Nintendo DS must be 10 digits higher than the PC?s. (e.g., 192.168.1.100 becomes 192.168.1.110)
2. You will now need to manually assign this new IP address to your Nintendo DS. For step-by-step instructions on how to do this, please click here.

If you are still unable to connect, please call 1-800-255-3700 in the USA or Canada for more information.

Using a Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector:

* Does the Blue Wi-Fi registration tool icon appear in the system tray of your PC (typically this is found in the bottom right-hand corner of your computer screen, near the clock)?
1. Yes. If the connector has been inserted very recently, it may take several moments for it to establish a connection. Retry.
2. Yes. If the USB Connector is inserted directly into the PC, trying attaching the plastic extension cable that came with your USB Connector. Getting some distance between the PC and the USB Connector may help the signal strength.
3. No. Is the software installed? Is the USB connector inserted? Restart the PC, and if it still does not appear, we recommend uninstalling the software and installing the latest version. Click here to get the latest software for the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector.
4. Yes, but it's gray. Is the USB connector inserted? Right-click the registration tool icon and choose to run the registration tool. If it does not respond, restart the PC. If it still does not respond, we recommend uninstalling the software and installing the latest version. Click here to get the latest software for the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector.

On poke'mon platnium I tried using the gts wi-fi system but it would not work. Why? error code 51099

Error Code: 51099 This error code can occur for two different reasons:
  • You are trying to agree to the User Agreement of the Nintendo DSi or Nintendo DSi XL, but are receiving error code 51099. This can occur if the Nintendo DSi or Nintendo DSi XL tries to connect to Nintendo's servers to download the User Agreement, but there is no existing Internet connection setup on the system. To connect your Nintendo DSi or Nintendo DSi XL to the Internet, please click here.
  • You are trying to play a Nintendo DS game online with a Nintendo DSi or Nintendo DSi XL, but your home Internet is set to WPA security. Please read the following:
There appears to be a compatibility issue with the security settings on your router:
Are you using WPA security?
No, I am using WEP security
If you are using a Nintendo DSi or Nintendo DSi XL, you will be able to connect online and use many online features with WPA security. However, you will not be able to play original Nintendo DS games that are Wi-Fi compatible, as they are only programmed to work with WEP security. In order to play these games online, you will need to do the following (If you are not receiving this error when attempting to connect games online, click here):

  • Change your wireless security to WEP or temporarily disable wireless security if you wish to connect to the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

  • If you are unable to log into your router or do not know how, you can check our router look-up page (link) to see if it is listed. If your model number is not listed, check any similar models from the same manufacturer for default information. If you are still unable to log into your router, please refer to the router manufacturer or the company that provided it.

  • Make sure your router is not on our list of incompatible routers. If it is, we recommended using a router that is compatible or co nnecting from a hotspot location.

  • The wireless security settings are typically found under sections labeled 'Wireless', 'Basic Wireless' or 'Wireless Security'.

  • Change the security mode to WEP, and chose your encryption type. The 64-bit encryption type typically uses a 10 character key while the 128-bit encryption type uses a 26 character key. Hexadecimal keys consist of letters A-F and 0-9, whereas ASCII keys have no limitations and are case sensitive. Be sure to use the key that is listed in 'key slot 1' and make sure you are not using a 'passphrase'. For specific information about changing your security type please see your router's manual or contact the manufacturer.
  • Important Note: it is recommended that any changes made to the router are performed from a computer that is wired via Ethernet cable to the router. In addition, any changes made to wireless security must also be adjusted on other wireless devices in the home that use the router (e.g. laptops, other game systems, etc). For instructions on how to change these devices, refer to the user manuals for these devices or contact the manufacturer.

  • Establish a connection in connection files 1-3 on the Nintendo DSi or Nintendo DSi XL. Make sure you are putting the WEP key into the Nintendo DSi exactly as it appears on your router page.

If the error persists while using WEP (or if you are receiving this error with other Wi-Fi features), follow these steps:

  • Keep trying, as there may be a temporary network issue. If the problem persists, or has been consistent over a period of time, move on to the next step.

  • Configure the Nintendo DSi or Nintendo DSi XL manually
Please note: if your router is set to broadcast the network but the Nintendo DSi or Nintendo DSi XL is not finding the access point then a manual setup will not resolve the error. There may be another problem, such as interference, or a basic setting in your router that is causing compatibility issues. Be sure that your router is set to 'Enable SSID broadcast' or 'Enable Wireless broadcast'. If you prefer to keep your network name hidden, verify the correct spelling and case of your router's SSID.
