When you ripped the top off, you must have loosened a component. Try going back in and make sure that everything is securely together.

How to replace the cord in dyson's dc07

Things You Will Need

  • Dyson DC07 power cord

  • T15 Torx-bit screwdriver

  • Small can

  • Camera or cell phone with camera

  • Flat-head screwdriver, 3/4-inch or smaller

  • Needle-nose pliers

Tips

  • Do detach the black wire that goes to the motor as it does not require removal.

Warnings

  • Do not work on the power cord when it is plugged in.

  • Do not force the plastic-covered connectors from the switch or you could break the male ends. Pull them off firmly but gently to avoid breaking the terminals.

  • Do not apply too much force to the plastic arms that hold the housing in place. The plastic arms are fragile and may break easily.

References

1 - Unwrap the power cord from the Dyson DC07. Detach the handle of the vacuum cleaner by pressing the release button. Pull the handle from the hose. Slide the hose down the wand and push the button at the bottom to release the hose from the machine.

2 - Press the button at the top of the dust bin handle to remove the canister bin assembly from the Dyson DC07.

3 - Lay the machine on with its back with the power switch facing upward. Locate the Torx screw directly beneath the switch actuator. Remove the Torx screw, turning it counterclockwise. Place the screw into a small can so you do not lose it.

4 - Remove the switch box housing held in place by the Torx screw just removed. Carefully pry upward on the two plastic arms that clip the housing in place. Take a picture with your cellphone or camera of the open housing to make it easier to reinstall the wires where they belong in the channels and spaces provided.

5 - Center the needle-nose pliers on the female connectors from the power cord attached to the switch. Apply equal force to pull them from the male ends of the switch. Also detach the two wires that connect together within the housing, identified by the clear plastic connector between them. Depending on your machine\'s manufacture date, the wires might have different colors. For example, they may be white and brown, all white or one could be blue. Disconnect a total of four wires -- two from the switch and the two connected together. Leave the other wires alone.

6 - Trace the electrical cord on the machine until you reach its protective cover where it enters the Dyson DC07. Lift up the cord protector to remove it from the vacuum. The cord protector has slotted sides that fit within the plastic. Slide the cord protector from the power cord.

7 - Remove the plastic covers that protect the female ends on the power-cord wires that connect to the switch. The new power cord does not come with these. Insert the tip of the flat-head screwdriver through the top of the plastic connector with two internal ridges. Lift upward and away to pull the wire free from the connector. Repeat for the other wire. Push the female end into the plastic connector until it snaps into place. Repeat for the other power-cord wire.

8 - Thread the new power cord through the cord protector. If you have trouble pushing the wires through, reach in with the needle-nose pliers to pull both wires through the rubber protector.

9 - Reconnect the two separated wires back together by inserting the male end into the female end of the other wire. Reconnect the two wires from the power cord to the switch. Reinstall the switch housing on the machine. Align the wires in the channels provided to keep them from being pinched or pulled out when you reassemble the housing. Look at the photo you took earlier as a guide, if necessary. Insert the wire that goes to the motor in this channel and the white wires connected together to the left of the switch in the area provided.

10 - Put on the switch housing cover and secure it with the screw you removed earlier. Reassemble the vacuum in the reverse order you dismantled it.

Rodeo wiring diagram

The wire to the horn button is a live wire and it is shorted out when you press the button. This activates the relay and blows the horn. relays normally work by power coming to a terminal through the coil and out the other terminal to earth . This connects the coil and so the contacts are pulled together to allow power from the battery though to what ever is the relay for .. So what you need is power to a coil terminal on the relay and the horn wire connected to the other terminal. This will complete the circuit when you press the horn and the relay will close and the horn will blow.. To get this it may be necessary to piggy back off the power wire ( battery terminal on relay ) to a coil terminal .

Top loader - whirlpool - he - door will not lock - lock light blinks

Your door lock assembly has gone bad. You'll need to get your model # and go to either www.apdepot.com or www.repairclinic.com or your local parts supply to pick up. To start the repair you'll need to lift the top up by taking the two metal clips, one on each side, and then pulling the top forward. Once that is done lift top and you'll be able to locate the lock located in the front. Once you find the lock follow the wires back and you'll see that they go back and then upwards. Set the top back down and then remove the back of the control panel, which are 1/4 screws I believe. Located the wires from the lid lock switch and see where they connect on the control board , from behind, it shoould be on your left side close to you. Disconnect the wires and now you can remove the lock safely. Install new lock and put the machine back together;

I got a RT1 to replace switch on bathroom fan, but the existing switch has only 2 black wires. The RT1 has red, black and white wires. What do I do ?

The Pass and Seymour RT1 and Wattstopper-brand RT-series and the Utilitec RT1 are countdown timers.
You push the button and the timer turns on the Load (light, fan, motor) and the timer begins a countdown. At the end of the countdown, the timer turns off the Load. Excellent way to make sure lights and fans don't stay on all day by accident.

Your existing switch has two wires. The switch does not have an internal clock like the timer.
The timer has one additional wire because the internal clock has to have power just like your electric alarm clock.

Manual says:
Black Hot wire connects to timer-black wire
Black wire to Load connects to timer-red wire
Timer-white wire connects to other white wires in the box (these wires are usually twisted together and covered with a wire nut)

Summary: This information means the two wires that came off the switch connect to the timer black and timer red wires.
Which goes to which? You can connect them either way, and if it doesn't work, simply switch the pair with each other. Or you can turn on power and test to see which one has power, and that is the Hot wire that connects to timer-black.

Now let's focus on the timer-white wire ... this is the wire that allows the internal clock to work.
Look inside the box where switch came out. Do you see two or more white wires pushed to the back of the box and covered with a wire nut?

The whites covered with wire nut are the Neutral wire and the timer-white connects to them.
*If your box does not have those white wires, then timer-white can connect to bare ground until the day you hire an electrician to drop additional line into box. Connecting to ground is NOT code and not recommended but it will work.

Here's a neat trick for connecting the white wires together.
Pull out the whites so you can work on them.
Take off the wire nut.
Hopefully the whites will be twisted together as per National Electric code so when you remove the wire nut, the whites stay together.
Now go back to the timer-white wire and remove about 1-1/2" of insulation off the timer-white wire so you have a fairly long bunch of stranded wire
Hold the whites together so the insulations match up
Wrap your stranded wire around the solid copper wires like a candy cane all the way to the end
Put the wire nut back on real tight
Then pull on your timer-white wire to make sure it will not come loose from the wire nut
Push the wires to back of box.
Connection is done.

Horn fuses all good but when i push button i don't have any horn or even hear relay. this all started after i had new bushing installed in steering wheel. Could the wires behind the wheel have been cut ?

Do you mean you had new bearings put in the top of the steering wheel column ? Do you have a tilt feature or a tilt / travel feature? Regardless, yes, the wire could have been cut, but I would suspect a poor connection in the slip ring or the horn pad connector was just not connected to the connector at the slip ring when it was put back together. Do you have cruise control switches on your steering wheel ? If so , I would pull steering wheel and check the slip ring connections first.

Changed bottom screen tested before putting back

Hi,

Happens sometimes it is one of two things:
1) When you put the DS back together is the ribbon from the top screen wound to tightly as this can cause the ribbon to pull out slightly from the socket on the motherbaord causing the blackout.
2) I have seen this happen only once before! The plsatic of the shell had a small chip where the battery connectors from the motherboard stick through into the battery compartment. THis tiny piece of plastic was stopping the final connection between battery and DS. Drove me mad, did all the usuals checked battery connections etc. Worht a look.

I need to know if I put it back together right

If you pulled it apart and put it back together but now it won't work properly, try checking your IDE cables to the hard drive/cd-rom, make sure they aren't connected backwards. Otherwise just carefully look over the entire board, be sure that the processor, heat sink and fan assembly are all intact and connected properly, do the same with the RAM, power connection, any expansion cards.
