Question about Kenwood VR-2080

1 Answer

No audio/ very quiet

I just bought a used vr-2080. It was described as 100% working. I have video but no audio (analog) on inputs 2 through 4. Also no audio through cd 1 audio inputs. The only sound I can get is through md tape 1 and video 1 which is very low. I've heard something about resetting the processor? How do I do that? Also, it did not come with the remote. Is there a universal brand that will work? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

HI,

Regarding Remote, you could buy from :-

http://www.replacementremotes.com/KENWOOD/Buy-RCR0907-A70119105-Remote-Control.html

The above remote is Compatible with VR-2080.

Now,

Download the manual from :-

http://safemanuals.com/user-guide-instructions-owner-manual/KENWOOD/VR-2080-_E

Make sure you have all the Connections in Right Place.

If yes, then Revert and we would move forward for Resetting the Processor. I am not positive that it could be done without remote but still let me search it for you.

Let me know,once done.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Josh, define the 'backfeeding' of the digital audio from the two HD components into Video 1. Those are ANALOG inputs on the VR405. You have two coaxial- and one optical-digital audio input you could/should be using.

I'm surprised you're getting ANY audio (much less digital audio) from the BD and Cable Boxes unless you also have an analog audio path coming in from (what?) the TV.

You're guessing. That is exactly the wrong thing to do. Get the manual.

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Kenwood-VR-205-Receivers-manual/id/480ci174/t/2/

"[D]vd 6 channel input" is for a 6-channel analog input as the name implies. I doubt you even have a source that HAS 6 analog channel outputs.

Speakers are OUTPUTS of the amplifers' speaker posts. Any one can work ANYwhere.

And that bi-wire capability, IF the speakers have it - pretend it isn't there.

I can't get my VHS sound to work on analog setting

We see no details about your "VHS sound" device (so we can't look at a manual, which you CAN) and how you have it connected. Presumably you're using analog RCA audio cables. THAT would work on any analog input EXCEPT Phono. Nothing complicated about analog sources. Outs to Ins.

I have the kenwood vr-7070 and i was wondering how i could connect my ipod touch to it, can you help me?

Anything that has a headphone output can be adapted to feed an RCA cable pair for standard stereo to any audio device with a standard RCA input (except PHONO). Get a cable like the one described here: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10218&cs_id=1021804&p_id=665&seq=1&format=2
and connect it into any available analog input EXCEPT "Phono".

I need to hook up my Kenwood vr-207 to a satellite HD receiver and blue ray player. How do I hook up the component cables. I am not sure where to plug in the "in's" and "outs".

In's always go to Out's.

The VR207 has no component video inputs, just a composite video output so you can use your TV for the receiver's On Screen Display.

http://www.kenwoodusa.com/UserFiles/File/UnitedStates/Home/Manuals/vr207.pdf

Just run your BluRay and Cable box HiDef HDMI, component, s-video, composite video, whatever (in that order of preference) to a matching input on your TV or monitor.

As a rule you should run the best audio from each of your video sources to the VR. There is no compelling reason to ever send good audio or video to a device that has little (or no) use for it.

Unfortunately, the VR207 has no digital audio inputs, so the best it can muster regarding surround is Dolby Pro Logic derived from 2-channel inputs.

BUT, if you have a DVD, BLURAY player or cable Box with 5.1 analog outputs you can let their internal circuitry decode Dolby Digital programming to true 5.1 for input ("DVD/6CH") to the VR207.

I am connecting an amplifier to my VR-407 to accomodate more speakers I have installed throughout my home. Where do I connect the amplifier?

Connect the amplifier input to the VR-407 using the receiver's REC OUT jacks for the MD/TAPE input on the back panel. This is a fixed line-level output for recording, and will work fine for driving the additional amp.

It is an analog STEREO-only receiver so it is NOT compatible with multichannel or even digital audio. The TV is irrelevant.

Without additional equipment it can't be done. As i see your VR-606 pure analog device, and you trying to somehow use 5.1 sound from HD STB that is on HDMI put on RCA connectors of your VR-606. It is impossible without converter from HDMI to Analog audio or something likethis, best way to buy new receiver with HDMI input and TV neither Receiver with HDMI out oportunity. Then you will have your home cinema. In your current setup probably you can play only with stereo from your stb.

How do I connect my Sony PS3 with HDMI and component sound with Kenwood VR-606

Component outputs do not provide sound. Component CABLES however can be used as a rather equal alternative to analog cables for audio.

Your receiver does not have connections for component, nor HDMI. You can however still connect your PS3 to it for audio by any one of its three digital inputs. It only has S-video and does not upconvert video signals so I recommend against making any video connections to it. Connect the PS3 video directly to your television for whichever video input it is compatible with High definition video. This method will always provide the best picture.

Kenwood vr-5900 no sound

Check you settings on the receiver. get into the menu of the unit and check the "Audio" settings. if you can choose by specific input, select "Digital" otherwise, select "Auto" that should correct the problem. If you still have a problem, post a comment and I can help you troubleshoot some more.
