SOURCE: Washing Machine Suspension Problem?

smirkin, the question here is if the basket is listing against the tub or the whole tub and basket is listing. If the basket is listing and banging around it could be the drive block has worn or broken. I will attach a photo of one. If the whole tub is listing it could be a spring that broke. You can remove the front panel of the washer by pressing in on the two clips on each side of the washer top, The front panel should drop and pull out. You can see if any of the suspension sprins broke. The drive block is located under the basket. The agitator and basket have to be removed to change it out. Take a look at the back

SOURCE: Whirlpool Ultimate Care II Quiet Wash - Wash Cycle not holding water

Since your washer worked fine while in Germany and now is exhibiting this problem at your new home, you may want to double check how it was installed. I suspect you may have a problem known as "siphoning". The following link explains:

This could be a simple situation where the drain line on the washer is not installed correctly. There are minimum height and length requirments on the drain line. In addition, make sure the stand pipe you have the drain hose inserted in has a proper air gap to allow draining. All of this is explained in the link provided.

I hope this information is helpful to you. The majority of the situations arise from improper installation and is not an operaitonal problem with the washer. If, however, you double check everything and still have problems, please post back and let me know.

SOURCE: We leveled our machine, but when we run the cycle,

The washer balance is mostly controlled by two factors:

  1. Balance of the appliance cabinet (shell)
  2. Suspension of the tub inside the cabinet.
As far as the cabinet is concerned, balance, level, and plumb are determined by the adjustable feet. Installers usually come in with a level and test the level (side to side parallel to ground) and plumb (front to back perpendicular to groud). Many times they overlook the corner to corner balance. I think corner to corner is more important than being plumb or level. Try adjusting.

If that doesn't solve your problem, you may want to check the tub suspension. There are shock absorbers beneath the tub that push in opposite directions to keep the tub balanced in the cabinet. You can access them by removing the front access panel (diagram below -- remove 3 screws and pull out from the bottom to let it fall down)

You will see the shock absorbers in plain view. Wiggle the tub around to see if one is any weaker than the others. If so, replace it.

When spinning drum is slamming against washers sides. Can this be fixed

This would be an out of balance issue. Level your machine first and then make sure you load it evenly when adding clothes.

Have had washing machine almost a year, was working perfectly, now wants to bang and clang on spin cycle, machine is level, is there any internal adjustments that can be made

There is a concrete block which sits inside machine.check to see if the springs that hold it in place have not broken, check penny trap for blockages and don't overload machine.uneven spinning is usually down to machine spin at high speed when water isn't draining off clothes hence the weight is more uneven and causes the drum to hit against internal structure.

Washing machine goes out of balance easily

It may be a broken spring holding the wash cylinder centered or you are over loading the machine.

My Washer Baskets is leaning to one side when washing and spinning

Hello penpoint1959 - The tub is stabilized in the center with multiple springs which attach to the base of the washing machine and the frame of the tub. If one of the spring(s) is loose or broken, this may result in the tub being off center. Other possibilities are, the unit is not level and the load of clothing is not balance evenly in the tub. I personally first verify that the unit is level and the unit is being loaded evenly. If correct, and if I was in your position I would contacting a certified technician to move forward accurately and to assist with the repairs.

Our Crosley washing machine (Model # CW5000W) will not spin all the water out of the clothes and is making a bad noise while it spins.

Three possibilities here,

One, you've overloaded the washer with clothes, throwing the washer basket on tilt because of the extra weight and force against the agitator. Remove the wet clothes from the washer and try continuing the cycle.

Two, One of the elastic/spring arms that centers the basket inside the washer housing has broken and is allowing the basket to simply flop around. Disassemble the washer and inspect the basket supports.

Three, The center post that the washer basket sits on is going bad - The most common reason is that the bearings have gone bad. Disassemble the washer and replace the bearings at the base of the basket where it connects to the motor.

The tub of my toploading washing machine leans to the front right, It is balanced and leans whether clothes or in it or not. I can spin clothes if I prop lid open and hold tub straight .

The suspension springs have gone out of alignment or the tub holding mechanism is shifted. look throught the bottom to see the fault in the suspension. correct on the mountings.
Even a leaning can come if the motor suspension is out of alignment. This must be centered in and the top door will close evenly.

LSR8133HQO WHIRLPOOL Washer - The internal drum seems like it is not centered. The washing machine runs like it is overloaded to one side with out clothes in it.

Most probably one of the springs which centralises the drum has broken. Lean the machine back against something or someone and, with a light, check up inside and...A broken wire on the floor under the washer might tell you something....Don't forget to unplug first!...Good luck...Nomess

We have a 9 year old Sears Kenmore 90 Series top loading washer. We have noticed that it makes a loud slamming noise as it goes into the spin cycle! What the heck is going on???

If I remeber correctly
There are three springs that hold the tub to center.
either they have lost there tension or one is no longer connected.

Kenmore wasing macine tub is off track

heres how to accces the washer insides

the washer being "off track" sounds as if perhaps a spring holding the machine centered has snapped, look toward the rear bottom unit there should be a spring going from the tub to frame holding it to the middle
