New to me (used) Ambition 1.0 skipping stitches when in free motion with feed dogs down and sewing in a backwards direction (stitches fine when going forward or even sideways).

You have to be more slow and even speed. The main thing is to not pull on the thread. The top and bottom thread have to work together in order to sew. Try to practice in a forward motion and then backwards. Make sure that you have the right pressure foot being used.

Replacing the self threading part of the ellismo

Does the machine go through the motions but not thread the needle or is there no motion at all? If it is the first one, the threader head needs to be replaced. If it is the second, take the machine to your local Babylock dealer for repair.....it is not easy.

I have a Janome 6500 Memory Craft and I'm having problems with the thread tension while free motion quilting. No matter what the setting, the bobbin thread keeps popping up on the quilt top! I've only had...

Check this in your manual. I think when you do free motion you have the feed dogs (toothed things the rise up and pull the fabric under the presser foot) locked down but you still have to have the presser foot lowered. When the presser foot is locked in the up position, the tension on the bobbin thread is released.

The bolt (screw) attaching the right pedal was stripped. Where can we purchase a replacement? Thank you.

If the threads in the crank are stripped it will likely need to be replaced as well as the pedal. They come in pairs. I advise you to get the bike to a real Bicycle Shop because special tools are required. BTW: the left pedal is LEFT threaded.

Many skipped stitches when free motion quilting

Change to a 100/16 needle and slow down the motion.

Sewing machine needles have a groove down the front of the needle shaft which helps guide the thread through the needle. The more room, the better the thread is guided.

You should able to find more about this at Quilting Arts TV (Internet) - one of my favorite PBS shows.

Free motion quilting skipped stitches, breaking threads

Might be that you need to lower the tensions quite a bit, you'll have to juggle with top and bottom tensions though, and experiment for just this operation with the Sensormatic.

Right ascesion slow motion control knob loose, does not work

The RA knob has a setscrew that fixes it to the shaft. Just need to find the correct size and tighten.
