Hi
Make sure that the wireless setting is "on" on your router. Then reset the router. Also restart your computer. Make sure there are no passwords, in other words, that the network isn't secured. Now try connecting to the router by clicking the wireless tray icon. Once you connect to the right network (double check the name) click the 'Connect' button.
Given bellow is a detailed information from a site to guide you about how to connect your laptop via wireless….
Follow the router's manual to set up the router and its Internet connection, which will probably require connecting a wired client to the router. Once the wireless router is set up, the wired connection is no longer necessary. However, it's best to leave the wired client connected if it's a separate computer from that on which you're going to set up WiFi. If something goes wrong, you can access the administration interface again.
Gather information from the setup process. In order to set up the wireless client, you will need to know the service set identifier (SSID), the Wireless Encryption Protocol (WEP) key and the channel and mode.
Boot up the laptop and plug in the WiFi card. This will not be necessary if your laptop has an integrated WiFi card.
Install any drivers needed to use the WiFi card. Insert the disc that came with the WiFi card and follow the on-screen installation process. Most discs will trigger a new hardware wizard that makes installation extremely simple.
Double-click on the "WiFi Connection" icon. It can be found in the system tray at the bottom of the laptop screen.
Click on "Properties."
Select the wireless networks tab.
Use the "Add" button at the bottom of the dialog if your WiFi network isn't in the "Available Networks" section.
Click on "Configure" when you see your network's SSID in the "Available Networks."
Enter your network's SSID and WEP key.
Click on "Start," then choose "Connect To" and ‘’wireless network connection’’ Your computer should now be able to access the WiFi network. If the WiFi network is connected to the Internet, it should also be able to connect to the Internet.
Let us know if you want to know something more else please accept the suggestion.

You must login to the router and setup the wireless. Make sure you turn the WIFI broadcast on (enable it) so you can actually have wifi signal.

My laptop is connected to my unsecured wireless network via my linksys router, but my iPad and other laptop will not connect. I am getting an error message that says, "Unable to join the network...

I would try to set up the network with a new SSID due to settings being saved in some devices, and because someone else may have a linksys network set up that you may accidentally be connecting to.

After that, try basic security settings.

Also, make sure you don't have MAC address filtering enabled on the router. To check this, you will have to login to the admin area and look for MAC address filtering.

Running Vista. My laptop won't conenct via wireless, but other laptops i add can connect via wireless to motorolla SBG900, even though i have added my laptop's mac address for the dell wireless card.

You need to ensure you laptop has DHCP set to OFF and disabled, START>>RUN>>services.msc enter, scroll down to DHCP, set to OFF and Disable.Reboot. Now check that the PC, it must have a login password, must be in same Workgroup, and have Sharing enabled, too. it also MUST have a Name too. The "Other" PC's all need to be the same, workgroup, password, name sharing etc.

The issue might be due to corrupted wireless drivers. Uninstall and reinstall the wireless drivers.

Where can I find the original password on the disk for a Linksys wireless-N WRT160N router?

Hi,

Connect your computer to the router via a cat5 / network cable. Open your web browser.
In the address field type http://192.168.1.1 hit enter

You will get a login screen to the configuration menu
For linksys the default login is
login admin
password admin

You can also go to the linksys support website for specific information...

Then you change the password and login to whatever you'd like. I would assume you are also going to enable security... you would then go to the wireless security tab to setup the encryption type, etc...

The save settings. Disconnect the cable. Plug those settings into your computer's wireless settings and reconnect wirelessly.

Here's a walkthrough.

If still unable to retrieve that, let me know.

Thanks for using "Fixya".

Need passphrase from D-Link router DI-524

1. if the default login never been modified b4, u can hook a network cable to the router, type "192.168.0.1" to enter the router config. Once inside, u can edit the password or disable it.
*U may prompt for username (admin) and passsword(empty).

2. If the default login has been modified and u r not able to enter the router config, u can just reset the router by inserting a pin to the small hole to get back the factory default settings. Then u can perform above step again to reconfigure your wireless router.
