It is a Kenmore top loader, sorry but I don't have the model number around the lid opening right now, I am out of town. The washer does not power up at all, it is as if it has no electricity. I can get the model number in a week , sorry about that. I adopted the machine with a house in 2002, so I don't exactly know how old it is, it doesn't look that old and has done well.

    Kenmore Heavy Duty 70 Series

This morning when I pulled the control out to start the washer, all I got was a humming sound. So power is getting to the back of the washer because of the hum I hear, but nothing else happens.

You're going to have to give me a little more information. Is the heading you used correct? Is this, indeed, a Kenmore top loader? If so, what is the model number (located around the lid or door opening). Does the washer power up at all? Please post back and let me know.

I have this same piece of sh*t machine. Repairman was just here. I've had the machine since 2002. Replaced the transmission in 2004 and now having the symptoms above. Repairman thought it to be the clutch. It's a temp fix so he didn't charge me (Sears repair clutch is $200). He thinks it's the motor going out, but can't be sure. Motor will cost about $300 to fix without labor costs. I've sunk enough money into this stupid thing. Temp fix will get me through another week. Sears has a nice sale...15% off and 0% interest for 1 year. If you let it rest and jiggle the basket, you might be able to squeeze another load or two out of it.

3gfi plugs on a coachman Aurora do not bathroom bedroom work fine.

sometimes, a GFI will be controlled by another GFI. Did you "reset" the GFI ( if there is one ) in the bathroom? You have to find out where
The wires in the dead GFI come from. Electrical panel....circuit breakers. Did you flip each circuit breaker off then on to reset them ?
Do you have an electrical meter ? let me know then we will go from there.

Is there a fuse on model no jvm1540dn1ww

There should not be a fuse on your washer- what is usually the problem here you have a reset button the power cord- also be sure to check if you are plugged to a GFI circuit-
if this is the case unplug the power cord-
reset the GFI outlet (wall plug)-
plug your power cord back into wall-
and push in the reset button-

I have a kenmore dishwasher quitewash1 it will not get power or come on

Make sure the circuit breakers to the dish washer are on. Cycle them off then on to make sure. This will reset the GFI breaker. Plug the machine into the wall plug and make sure the wall plug in not a GFI also. If it is reset the wall plug and you should have power.

Neither the washer or dryer will turn on - I checked the breaker and that's not the problem. Is there some type of reset button that needs pressed?

Sometimes there is a GFI or ground fault interrupter switch in the circuit. This is a wall plate which has a mini switch between both plug-in holes in the wall plate. Sometimes these are wired in-line where you have 1 master and additional outlets. This means that if the wall plate your washer and dryer are plugged into does not have a little red or black button to push to reset, there may be another wall plate in that room which has it instead.

Sometimes circuit breakers in a fuse panel are marked wrong. You may need to reset a different breaker.

No power to Whirlpool awo/d5727. I have checked the fuse and the socket but still have no power.

You say you checked "socket" and the "fuse," did you mean the AC wall outlet (115V) and a fuse or breaker in the main power panel?
Nearly all circuits involving water are protected by a Ground Fault Interrupter that can be servicing several wall outlets (perhaps one not near the washing machine) or can be located as part of a circuit breaker in your main power panel.
The GFI outlets will have one or two push buttons located between the outlets and a combination GFI/overcurrent breaker will also have at least one button where others will have none.
If you find one that is tripped, try resetting it. If it will not reset, unplug the washing machine and try again.
If it now stays on, your machine may have an electrical path causing it to trip and using an unprotected outlet may be unsafe and an indication that the appliance itself may have electrical leakage which could be otherwise dangerous.
The circuit breakers in the main power panel can also fail (they didn't 20 years ago) and we have replaced 3 in a home only 5 years old already so they are not made well anymore.

My Kenmore Ultrawash Quietguard Standard dishwasher won't start --or light up. I've checked the wall switch and circuit breaker and both seem okay. Darek Johnson darek_johnson@yahoo.com

Most dishwashers and other appliances using water, are protected by a Ground Fault Interrupter or GFI. These will sometimes trip without having detected any dangerous leakage current and others will get oversensitive causing them to trip well below their design current. A GFI wall socket will have two buttons on it; one to 'test' the other to reset. On some brands, when they are tripped, the reset button moves only a little further out and may not appear tripped. GFIs are also found combined with circuit breakers that also differ in appearance from the unprotected type and will also have a reset button. If your dishwasher is plugged in under the kitchen sink, check its appearance to see if it is GFI equipped.
BTW, these can be used in one location and connected so all of the wall plugs on the same circuit can be served by a single GFI equipped breaker so check any others nearby as well.
If a GFI refuses to stay set, it may be actually detecting some leakage current of a dangerous level so don't assume the GFI is bad, the appliance on it its circuit may have developed an internal problem.

The microwave does not react what so ever. Checked the fuse and its fine, what could be the problem? please help

Is there power at the outlet? You say you checked the fuse ... is that the one inside the machine? Is the outlet protected by a GFI (reset for a GFI is on the GFI)? A GFI looks like a ordinary outlet but is very sensitive to electrical irregularities. Your circuit breaker may be on or your power panel fuse may be fine and the fuse inside your oven may be fine. If the GFI is popped, you have no power.

Try some other electrical device in the outlet. Does it work? Try an extension cord from a known hot outlet?

Beyond these tips, you may need professional help with this.

GFI on cord trips out.

Probable cause is a single pole gfi opposed to a double pole gfi.
* Do not use a single pole GFCI ON A MULTI WIRE CIRCUIT, IT WILL NUISANCE TRIP IMMEDIATELY
Use a two pole GFCI circuit breaker on such circuits.

NO POWER

do any of the lights come on when you press the power button? if nothing comes on, then check the GFI outlet and see if it has tripped. quick check would be to unplug the washer from the wall and plug in a lamp. if the lamp doesn't work either, then the outlet doesn't have power.

either the GFI needs to be reset or the circuit breaker at the main panel needs to be reset. one GFI will control a couple of outlets that could be exposed to water (eg, bathrooms, laundry rooms, outdoors, etc). you'll need to find the one and hit the RESET button on the outlet.

if the GFI outlet is reset and still no power to the lamp, then find the circuit breaker panel (usually in a garage, basement or outdoors). open the door and see if one of the breakers has tripped. reset it (or replace if its an old style glass fuse) and see if power is now restored to the outlet cause the lamp now lights up.

if power is there to the outlet, but the washer still will not come on (and either work or display error codes), then one more thing to check is the connection at the machine/motor control unit (connector P13 at the unit). disconnect the washer from the wall outlet. to access P13, you'll have to remove the top console panel (its the one that has all on the buttons on it). its held on with 3 screws on the back that you can get to from the top (no need to move the washer out from the wall). loosen the screws, tip the the panel forward and lift it up. it will be connected to the computer board, so just move it out of the way. P13 will have the large black wires going to it. give it a push to see if its not locked in place. if you hear a "click", then it was not properly connected. you can remove it and reinstall it if you want, but make sure the machine is not plugged into the wall outlet.

put the console back together, plug the washer in and see if it works. if it still doesn't power up, then sounds like the computer board is dead and you'll need a new one. its about $150 from searspartsonline. replacing it is easy, but sears may pay $150 towards labor and $100 towards parts. give them a call.

good luck.
