Question about Panasonic PT-P1SDU Multimedia Projector
Panasonic pt-p1sdea not working it isn't turning on. I initially thought it was the power cable and replaced it yet it still doesn't turn on. The green light of the on button doesn't appear. It doesn't have an external adapter I fear that the adapter is internal and isn't working any longer. It needs to be shown to a Panasonic Center but I cant seem to find one in my vicinity.

I have the PT AX 100U with 964 original hours. After reading the above threads, it was clear that I had the sticking iris problem. I watched ptatohed's video under solution 3 above and decided, after I called Heartland to check on the repair price ($180 cash and carry), to try this first. I wanted to also lubricate the top iris pivot as well, but I did not want to remove the entire top cover and other thing to get to the to pivot.
It turns out that if you remove the lamp assembly, (follow the lamp replacement instructions), and place the projector on its front, you can see the top iris pivot. (The bottom pivot is easily seen with the lamp in place.) I used a 2/0 artist brush and bent the ferule into a corkscrew shape. I also tried a "U" shaped brush but the mild cork screw shape seemed to work better. It could easily place a very small amount of 3 in 1 oil on the top pivot. if you can play the game "Operation" you can place the oil on the top pivot without getting any oil on anything else.
I repeated this process 3 times for the top and bottom pivot arms waiting about 5 minutes between applications. I worked the arms back and forth with a q tip to let the oil move down the shafts. After about 15 minutes the sluggish rotation became free and quick. I replaced it in its ceiling nest and so far works like new. None of the power down problems that it had been having.
It will be interesting to see how long it lasts. This is a little bit disappointing as the product was obviously under enginered, but right now the price is right for this repair, (free and took about 30 minutes).
Good luck all and thanks for the help!!
