Question about Panasonic KX-T7730 Corded Phone

Another possibility is EMF (electric + magnetic fields). Your telephone "key" system, commonly referred to as a 308, is prone to interference from electric fields emanating from welders, public pool pumps, industrial dryers, even refrigerators. The only 2 solutions I've known are recabling the affected extensions with expensive 'shielded' cable (it's protected by foil wrap and an earth wire) or upgrading the 308 to the next tel. system called the panasonic 816

There are 2 possibilities. You have either toasted the system, or you have bad wiring. Start by unplugging all the extensions. The model and time frame is right that this is a TA series box, which has 3 CO lines and 8 extension jacks on every card. Leave the lines plugged in and unplug all the extensions. Now take a phone and plug it into Jack 01. Does it work? If it does, keep plugging extensons in until it fails. That will give you an idea what's bad. If it failed with one phone plugged into jack 1, you probably have a dead system.

The phone doesn't like something it's sharing a line with.
First, check to see if the extension number on each phone is different. You may have two extension 11's.
Next, check that line 1 is line 1 one all of the phones, then line 2 is line 2 etc. If one phone has line line 1 showing up on line 2 then you may have wires crossed somewhere. Or if you pick up a line on phone one and line 2 goes red on one of the other phones you have wires crossed.
Last, check in the plugs to make sure the connections are straight. Sometimes when a phone plug is inserted the pins cross and short two lines together.
