LCD monitor? Brand and model? Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for:http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/al... Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.http://www.badcaps.nethttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_p...

Open it up and look at the capacitors. The round "tin can" looking components. If the tops appear bulged, then replacing them may help. Check out the YouTube video... and web site...

Tv power cuts on power light lit no picture then Tv turns it self off, when picture appears there's waves in picture and tv turns itself back off and on with no picture just black scree

Hi Patty
If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life of your monitor or TV by several years.
Check the cables, connectors and connections.
If your TV, flatscreen, or monitor is more than 5 years old it is more like to have suffered a component failure.
Take it to a repair shop.

Desktop or Laptop computer ?

WARNING: Before you start troubleshooting remember that you are dealing with electricity that can KILL.

http://www.kitchentablecomputers.com/static.php - rules

Only work inside the computer case when the power has been switched off and disconnected. Never open the power source.

Test all power and data leads that attach to your hard drive IDE,SATA

the leads from your (motherboard to your hard drive) make sure they have secure dust free connections and are not faulty

If its a 40 pin flat ribbon type it will be the first to fail.

Even something as small as a faulty electrical fan and its lead can cause you problems

computers need all power and data to continue through every working device and to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error.

Make sure your graphics card is securely seated with no dust built up or in the socket

if you remove your graphics check the socket to make sure its dust free.

Restart your computer then reinstall it this should activate found new hardware wizard

Check the VGA cable connection running from the computer to the monitor.

This cable must be completely inserted into both VGA connection ports, otherwise the video signal is not going to reach the display.

Disconnect the VGA cable from the computer and monitor, then look at the metal connectors on both ends.

If you are missing connection pins, the video signal is not going to transfer between hardware correctly.

Examine the power connection on the monitor.

If the monitor is not receiving power, it is not going to turn on.

Turn off the monitor for a few minutes, then power it back on.

Like other computer hardware, the monitor may not initially turn on correctly.

Move the mouse and press the "Enter" key on the computer keyboard.

If the computer is in sleep mode, the monitor is going to appear as if it does not have any display.

Hope this helps

Computer freezes when trying to access My Computer in any program

Could be a program running in background. Try to go to msconfig ( click on start, run, and type msconfig). On the startup items, disable all and reboot. See if the performance improves. If it does, enable startup program on msconfig one by one and reboot. to check what startup item is causing the slow performance. If it does not improve, might be an unnecessary driver for the system. Reinstall windows xp.

Very slow startup,

Hi, It seems that the real issue is with the monitor itself and it needed to be checked some electronic repairman or you can even go for a new monitor. The problem that you have placed is with the internal components and should be repaired by changing it to get the picture instantly as before.

No power. will not turn on.

Hello

On/off switches do go bad. The "No Signal" is more likely caused by a loose cable, cable or electronic failure. Generally the refusal to turn on or slow turn on is caused by capacitors on the power supply board which have changed value. Take it to a local repair person or see my website: www.micromendllc.com

Good Luck

Dell E152FP monitor goes black at startup, but not permanently

My bet is that your monitor is on it's way out. If this is true, it will get worse until it gets to a point where it no longer works at all. Connecting the monitor to another computer should confirm my suspicion. The monitor has probably developed a problem with some capacitors inside. The parts are not expensive, but finding a shop to do the work at all may be a challenge. If you're handy with a soldering iron you might want to have a try at it.

Dell E173FP - After sometime the screen switches off

Sorry not a solution - but I have started experiencing the exact same problem over the last month although sometimes, on switching on again, it will run for 10-15 minutes before the problem re-emerges. Initially I put it down to the v. hot weather in July but it still continues. So I would also appreciate any solutions!
