Try rerunning the wires and check them for cuts or burnt marks

I have a jl 500/1 amp hooked up in my car and the power light comes on for about 5 seconds then turns off. no sound out of the subs. it is hooked up to a factory deck through a high to low level converter....

hook up the remote wire ( or make sure its hooked up good) check your ground! ground wire not big enough awg wire and put on bare metal not more than 1 foot away from amp. bad ground will cause this.

When i hooked the amp up the it would blink red right when i turn the stereio on

this can be caused by a short or a non constant current from your head unit to your remote power wire on your amplfier (your remote wire might be broken some where). Or your amp is losing ground. also check your speaker wiring and so on. www.the12volt.com has a subwoofer wiring diagram for all occasions.... make very sure you are wired properly this can be killing your amp causing the light to dim and so forth...

I have a sony xplod 600 amp, hook it up,but the green light remains on,i have it hook to front speakers of my yaris, and i will hook the rear speakers to.why is the light on?

this is caused because the remote wire isnt unhooked. u either have to turn the remote wire off or connect the wires to the blue wires on the back o your radio for the light to turn off. that light WILL drain your battery fast!

I have a kenwood kdc 233 cd player in my car but the remote wire aint working because i tried hooking up an amp i pit a light power tester on the remote wire but dont work and i dont think the input plugs...

as far as the remote wire a keyed power wire from under dash can be used its the same thing.if the remote wire is working it wont turn on your amp so are you sure thats not why your rcas dont work or have u hooked power to the remote on the amp.

My amp is not working! i have a live from battery and a good earth, but still nothing, does it need to be earthed to back of head unit?

Do you have the remote turn-on lead hooked up?

There should be 3 wires on the power side of the amplifier.

Ground - to the car chassis
Power - to the car battery
Remote - to the remote turn on lead from the head unit. (this emits a 12V signal to a relay inside the amplifier for it to turn on when the radio does)

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question.

Amp will not come on ,no light

Yes!!!!!!!!!! Your remote wire is what tells your amplifier to turn on and off it won't work without it. Assuming your stereo headunit is an after market unit it has the correct wire for this. what you have to do is pull out you headunit, and in the back of the headunit where all the wires plug into your unit there is blue wire with a white stripe. this is the remote turn on wire. connect a wire to that blue n white wire and run it back to your amp, insert it into to the spot marked remote. turn your head unit on and your amp will power up... if you have all the rca cables hooked up your amp should be ready to go.... btw good choice on the amp, kenwood is the way to go!

Ok everything is working but the remote wire not

First make sure you have the right wire hooked up, there is a Power Antenna wire, and remote turn on wire, and both are blue, but one has a white stripe.. Just make sure the right one is hooked up.

Now if the right wire is hooked up, and still no voltage there are 2 ways to get turn on power to the amp.

Option 1.
Buy a LVT (low voltage trip), they come with instructions, and arent very hard to use. They will only turn on the amp when signal is sensed through the speaker leads.

Option 2. (I don't care for this one)
Find an accessory fuse in the fuse box (meaning only has voltage when the key is in the on position), and run a wire from there directly to the amp.
WARNING ABOUT OPTION 2. This can be noisy, and cause a whine in your speakers, this should be a last option.

Amp

Unfortunately, I can't find the manual for that amp online, so I'm flying blind. If there's anything similar to "system control", that is essentially the same thing as the remote.

Another thing to try is try connecting the +12V wire to one of the "+" inputs at a time. If one of those connections is the remote, hooking +12V up to it but not the other will cause the amp to not turn on. If the amp turns on no matter what "+" input you put +12V on, then we know both "+" inputs are probably are just for +12V.

It's also possible that the DIN plug has the remote as one of the connections in it. Don't know that without the manual.

But, if the amp really, truly has no remote wire connection, you'll need to get a SPST switch or relay to turn the amp on/off. Otherwise, without a switch or remote, your amp would be on 24/7 and drain your battery in no time.
