Samsung HC-P4252W convergence problem

I recently had this model as a broken gift. It seems the blue lens is way off. I have entered the MUTE 183 code and couldn't do much. I'm posting some pictures of what it actually look like. Is there any way to re-align the lenses ? Thanks. Pressing the focus button in convergence mode works, but doesn't help much.

could you post back the link please ?

In the MUTE183 menu, I could sucessfully move the red and green grid
both vertically and horizontaly. The problem comes from the blue,
because I can move it Vertically but can't move it horizontally with

Do I really need to change the ICs ? is there a need to solder them or something, i'm a complete noob when it comes to electronics.

    Thanks again !

  • Mizujin Mar 29, 2008

thanks, I will open the back and try to look for theses pieces number. I'll then try to train myself to solder hehe

  • Mizujin Mar 29, 2008

could you circle in the place I need to look ? there's a bunch of stuff in there. Are those aluminum things the heatsinks you are talking of ? thanks !

  • Mizujin Mar 29, 2008

My mistake, I see one of them directly on a heatsink. there are screws and white paste under it. model is a STK392-010
I can't locate the second one.

  • Mizujin Mar 29, 2008

Ok, I have located it. Should I remove them now ? or order the 2 pieces and wait for instructions ?

  • Mizujin Mar 30, 2008

Hey again, I have ordered the two IC's and now i'm gonna train at soldering. I have noticed two VR-semi (RR402S - RR47S1) that are burnt and was wondering if thoses are the two main resistor that burns with the IC's. Should I look for other resistors ?

    Thanks alot for your help

You need to change the convergence ICs. This is an inexpensive repair if you do the repair yourself. The ICs are located on the big heatsink they should Be STK392-110 or 120 or else they could be STK 392-010 or 020 . But what ever STK number you have you will need to replace both. Here is a link where you can get replacement ICs and they include step by step installation instructions with the new ICs. Here is their link.

Sorry the link didnt post here it is again. And yes they need to be solderd in, however if you purchase the ICs from this link they do provide complete step by step instruction with the ICs and also offer free support to help you should you have any problems. I am one of their support tech as well as a partner. We set up email accounts for all our customers for free support. Its an easy repair takes about an hour from start to finish.

They should be right there near the outer edge on the board on the right on either one large heat sink or two large heatsinks right next to each other.

Thta sthe right one. I believe that model has one heat sink right at the back and the other one is right next to it going in the opposite direction if I am not mistaken.

Thats up to you. If you order them from the link I mentioned they will email out the instructions as soon as you place your order so if you need anything else at radio shack such as desoldering iron and what not.
