Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W50 Digital Camera
The lens on my cybershot (DSC-W50) won't close. I had found others that had this same issue with theirs, and for a lot of them giving it a couple knocks on your palm seemed to work. This did not work for me. I also tried putting a tiny (2 small drops) of WD-40 on either side of the lens. I used a small eye dropper to add them. My camera is only about 1 1/2 years old. So it is about 6 months out of warranty, and they want over $100 to fix it, I can not afford this. I figured I would ask if anyone has anything else for me to try.
At this point I am willing to try to take it apart myself just to see if I can fix it, but can't even get the screws loose.
Any help would be appreciated considering I can not afford to even have it looked at right now. Thank you in advance.

That is because the gears are either broke, worn out, or something has cause them to become misaligned.

I had the same problem and fixed it by twisting the lens.
