Question about Xerox WorkCentre C2424DN All-In-One Laser Printer

Workcentre c2424 Scan - Won't find me so I can scan to personal images

All of a sudden when I go to the Workcentre c2424 and hit "scan", press "personal folders" it no longer see's my name so I can scan directly to my personal images. My only option is to scan to the public folder and extract from there.

I can print with no problem. I can retrieve scans from the public folder with no problem, it's just that I can't find "me" to scan to.

I've uninstalled, reinstalled, shut down before, during after both the printer and my pc - but nothing ahs worked! I've also done a "walk up to printer" install and "find my printer" install. Both times it printed out a page that said "congratulations, you've installed me" but I still have this problem.

This is a company network with no firewall blocking the software.

Any suggestions? Xerox tech support was unable to help me since I'm the only one in the office this is happening to - it's not a Xerox problem.

    Thank you for the advice - but I appear to need more help :)



    I wasn't sure what you meant by "recreate the box on the machine" so I got out my manual. It instructed me to go IE and type in the machines IP number and create a private folder. I did the steps and when I tried to scan I could see my name (yay!) however my image scanned did not show up in my desktop Xerox Scan Utility window. It only showed up in the window in IE.



    How do I make it appear in my Xerox Scan Utility window on my PC, without having to launch IE to see it?

    Well I never heard back from jroth after he asked me who gave out his email address (perhaps he was not happy about) but my IT guy finally figured it out. In my case, we ran a trendmicro scan/spybot a few weeks ago that apparantly reset some settings.



    To fix this we did the following:

    start

    run

    type: services.msc

    find: windows firewall/internet connect sharing

    double click to open

    click the general tab

    at the bottom click the stop button

    in the middle choose disabled from the drop down

    click apply

    click ok

    "x" out of the window

    You should now see your name in the scanner control panel!

It seems somehow your address was deleted. Recreate the box on the machine and it should be ok.

    Boy did I give you a bad description.

    Contact jroth@hughesxerographic.com with your question.

    He is our scanning "dude" and should be able to have you recreate the template.

    Albeit not my area of expertese, I know more of the hardware end of scanning, He can get you set up. May be a small charge.

    I did mean to say template. Not box. But contact him. He can get you set back up.

    Duhhhhhhhhhh. And I didn't even have a mental collaps this morning. I read what I wrote. Pretty sad.. Sorry.

I have the message "Unlock scan head" when I turn the screw to the left to unlock it, I get the same message. Is there anything else I should be doing?


If you receive this error even after unlocking the scanhead xerox suggests replacing the scanner assembly. Item Inc offers this part on exchange for much cheaper then xerox. Here's a video to show you how to fix this error/replace the scanner.">

How can I scan a document into the WorkCentre M20i so that it is emailed as a word document and not a PDF doc. When we scan a document it is emailed as a PDF document.


You can not email documents on word format directly fromt he device.
PDF and image formats such as tiff and jpeg are the only formats you can scan.
A word document is a raw document that as been modified and formated by a specific text processor, in this case MS office. And the decive does not contain this processing capabilities.

How to change the default scan resolution on M20i?


You need to go to the printers webpage from your Web Browser http://192.168.1.100 or something like that. Then, go into Properties tab, and then the Services Dropdown. Under that, go into Email Settings and then Email Setup. Change your DPI to as high as 600dpi, then scroll to the bottom and hit save. You'll be prompted for a password which is either Admin / 1111 or 11111 / x-admin

WorkCentre C2424 Scanning Mac OS X.


Well I haven't necessarily scanned often, but i do know if you open up a program such as word, Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop, Corel, etc... You are given an option to scan. That way you can scan information, images and such to that program in which you use. C2424 wont give you any support because its a primary printer but the drivers should include drivers for the scanner and the computer to interconnect. If you have any photo like software on your mac. Try looking at the options at your top menu for an option or "import"
Many times it will give you the option to scan from a device.

To scan to computer its software based. Also on the Panel on the printer you should be given an option to scan. If printer is connected by USB it will be easier to detect scans from panel, but if your printer is connected via Ethernet it will be different.

I hope this helps. Try using a program that you can use to edit pictures or display. You should be given an option.

Linux or Mac OS X support for Scanning


You need to download the correct drivers for the OS.

You can go to this link:
http://www.support.xerox.com/go/results.asp?Xtype=download&prodID=C2424&Xlang=en_US&Xcntry=USA&source=XOG

And download drivers from there according to your OS. Please Select proper OS otherwise you will be downloading Windows by default. On this link there is also utility programs free and so forth; you might find something useful.

Scanner workcentre xerox C2424


Have you tried going to Xerox.com, click on support, then enter the 2424, then support again, then type in scanning? There is a lot of info there.
You can also call 1-800-821-2797 and ask for second level support.
