Hi,

The information provided is not sufficent to suggest or provide any solution. However the best one could do is try to isolate the issue. Good that you have tried the adapters on both the laptops. however some questions needs answers
- isnt there an inbuilt wireless card in your laptop ?
- what type of wireless adapter are you using USB / PCI ?
- Have you checked if the laptop shows the adapter under the Hardware/Device manager ?

If everything is checked, then its better to contact your laptop vendor to isolate the issue - if its with the laptop.

SOURCE: my wireless connection is not working. I have

sometimes the wirless network card can be at fault here but windows if its had a bad virus can somtimes be to blame without seeing the problem for myself i can only submise its the later so heres what to try the easy things first switch of the modem router and laptop for ten mins then turn them all back on see if problem is resolved then if not update all the drives in your laptop use a ethernet cable to do this if this fails and still not resolved then you can try some of the harder things first if have the restor disks then resore the laptop back to factory (remember to back up everything in it or you will loss it all) still not resolved then you will need to replace the wirless card (90% of the time its windows only a few times i have had to do this) you can get to it via an acces pannel at the bottom and there will be info on how to and a guide with the new one or you can take it to a pc shop and they will charge you about 25 including labour for the whole replacemnt i hope this is of some hel-p to you

Does my 3200 require a G or N Wireless adapter

the type of wireless adapter you'll need will depend on the access point/router you are connecting to. If your router uses wireless N, you'll need an N adapter. Same that if your router uses wireless G, you'll need a G adapter. However, it is good to note that there are wireless adapters which can support different wireless type such as B/G/N so that you do not have to worry in case you connected to different wireless networks which uses different wireless connection type. Hope this proves informative.

Cannot access internet wirelessly,Have tried several routers but cannot connect wirelessly, talktalk suggest that there is a problem with my wireless adapter

I faced the same issue and had to change 3 different routers of 3 other brands first of all switch off your router for 10 minutes and then change your ethernet cable (BLUE COLOR CABLE) with a new one also try changing the sides REMEMBER its a cable that connects from your MODEM to your WIRELESS ADAPTER !! and then switch on your ADAPTER (WIRELESS ROUTER) and wait for 10 last minutes :)
hope i FIXED your problem :)

It does not connect

Wireless Adapter is a device that will receive the wireless signals and will make your computer wireless adapter. without the wireless adapter you can not use the computer to connect to the wireless network. Now a days all the laptops and desktops are equipped with the built in wireless adapters.
First check whether you have a wireless adapter on your computer ?

WIN XP
Right click on MY COMPUTER ==> properties ==> Device Manager ==>
you will see Network adapter ==> under network adapter you will see the wireless adapter ==> Right clink on the wireless adapter ==> properties => Check whether it says the Device is working properly or not ?If it says working properly then that's great !

WIN VISTA/ Windows 7
Click START ==> Control Panel ==> In the right hand side at the top you will see " Classic View "
Switch to classic view ==> you will see Device Manager ==> Under Network Adapters you will find your wireless adapter listed . Right clink on the wireless adapter ==> properties => Check whether it says the Device is working properly or not ? If it says working properly then that's great !

If you do not see wireless adapter in the Device manager , then either you do not have the adapter or the wireless adapter is not working .If you see "yellow exclamation mark" on the wireless adapter, that means the drivers are not installed for the adapter or not working. Reinstall the drivers.
Once your adapter is working properly , try to connect to the wireless network.

If you are installing the external wireless adapter to the computer and if you are using Windows 2000 or Windows 98 , ME, then you will have to connect to the wireless network using the utility of that adapter.
If you are using Win XP then you can use windows to connect to the wireless network or you can use other utility.
In case of Win VISTA, you will use windows to connect to the wireless network.

Wireless network adapter not working

I've had a similar problem with a USB wireless adapter working ok for over a year and it recently stopped connecting because it would keep scanning different channels every 30 seconds or so.

The solution that worked for me was to change the default radio channel on the access point (for my netgear router I did this by logging on to 192.168.1.1 and changing the settings in there).

Changing the channel from the default 11 to (lucky) 7 did the trick. The router notes say that changing channels may help if another access point is interfering with the signal, and my issue only cropped up when some new neighbors moved in so my best guess is they were also using channel 11. Hope this helps.

Router won't authenticize

Most of the issues like this resolves when you power cycle the entire network.i.e by unplugging the power cord from the modem first then the router. When the lights are all off try plugging back the modem the router wait for 2 min and try again. Should work if the adapter is installed properly.
If this does not work try plugging the adapter in different slot in the computer.

Netgear router and microsoft adapter compatablity

You might try looking for updated drivers for your Microsoft adapter. Older wireless adapters often do not support newer wireless security methods like WPA/WPA2, so if your router is set to use something besides WEP, that may be the answer.

If you're not using wireless security and you still see intermittent connection issues, I'd consider using a different wireless adapter. In my experience, Microsoft wireless adapters do not have the range other brands do.

SMC EZ Connect 2862W-G does not see Linksys network

It shows that your wireless router and wireless adapters are both working. One thing to try is changing your wireless channel. Since you are already using 11, try maybe 1 or 9. Check if your SMC adapter will pick up the wireless signal.

By the way, how far is your computer (using the SMC adapter) to your wireless router?

Siemens router & Dynex adapter

Double check if there is any wireless security enabled in your router. Verify if the type of security enabled in your router is already supported by your wireless adapter. If the wireless security enabled in your router is not supported by your adapter, change the security to something that will work with your adapter.

Try connecting your computer with dynex Wireless G USB to different wireless network for further isolation.
