Washer Feels like there are gallons of water in the bottom

Hello Holly Davis -

Does the unit make a humming noise? If so, either the drainage hose/pump is clogged and needs to be cleaned. Try setting the cycle to spin only and verify if water pumps out. If it does not, then the unit could possibly be experiencing an issue with a faulty pump, timer, door lock assembly or control board. Contact a professional to move forward accurately. However, regarding the odor my advice to you is first rub some bleach around the door gasket. Let this dry. Next rub some vinegar around the door gasket. Let this dry. (Do NOT mix the bleach and vinegar) Then run a hot empty load of bleach in all three dispensers. Put 1/2 cup of bleach in the detergent dispenser and fill the softener and bleach dispenser to the max fill line with bleach. Once that is done repeat the process with vinegar. Please make sure you run a load of towels or some sort of items that will not matter if you get a little bleach on them once this process is done.

I have a dug well, the water has an odour, sewery smell for about two weeks, I shocked it today ran the taps but didn't smell the bleach, not sure if I should add another gallon, what could that smell be...

Hi,
I would add more bleach and run the water while you are adding it...

Then find out where the bad water could be coming from...sounds like a drain field for a sewage system near you is not working properly and is causing the water to be contaminated..

The water smells bad as if it is not draining correctly. Is there a water filter that needs to be replaced? How do I clean out this washer to get it smelling nice?

Hi

Try using bleach with hot water, run a cycle with hot water and bleach. Or spray bleach +water mixture on the seal. Run a cleaning cycle with hot water and bleach or vinegar at least once a month to reduce the growth of mold in other parts of the washer. You can also try using 1/2 a cup of Washing Soda or 4 cups of baking soda Crystals and run the machine with no clothes in it. This would remove all the debris, lint & mold growth from the drain pump and drain filter. This would clean the mold from the door seal as well. Hope this helps.. Please post back if you need mor information.

What is the sanitation cycle for on Model

Typically "sanitation" cycles require hot water....then they add more heat to the washer during the cycle. It is not 212 degrees, but it is very hot and does kill most germs.

The mildew smell is normally caused by water remaining in the system lines - because the water drain pipe is too high and keeps too much water inside after the system pumps the interior pan. Suggest that you just pour in some bleach after the last load...that should kill all mildew. Please do not overdo it. Only about 1/8th to 1/4 cup is needed to keep the mildew smell under control

Mildew smell in towels after washing. Tried

Hi,
Everything that you did was good and right. Front loaders have a tendence to harbor mold and mildewy smells by the nature of their design. Cleaning the pump strainer, and repeating the steps that you took woll take care of the problem. The pump strainer is located between the drum and the pump, behind the kick panel of the washer. The strainer is connected to the drum with a rubber hose. Open and clean the strainer. While it is open, peer up into the pump, and see if you can see any other debris in there. Remove al that you can, and reassemble the strainer. Wipe down the seal faces at the door with a solution of bleachy/soapy water, and run a 'sanitary' load with bleach in all dispenser cups. Dump 1 cup of bleach also into the tub prior to starting the empty load. Use the hottest water setting. After the cycle ends, run another empty load to flush all traces of the bleach from the system. This should take care of the issue.

Best regards, --W/D--

Bad smelling water

The water lines are contaminated with bacteria and/or mold. This is a problem with many refrigerators. You need to turn off water and disconnect the feed line and filter. Mix 4 ounces of Clorox(R) in 1 gallon of water and pump it through with a NEW garden sprayer. You can remove the wand and clamp it onto the water inlet. Activate the dispenser while you pump the bleach through the system. Once bleach starts coming out the dispenser, vent the garden sprayer (de-pressurize), Let the bleach sit for 15-20 minutes. Re-attached water using a brand new filter (do not use the old filter and do not put bleach through filter). Run water until no chlorine odor (it can be a while). This process needs to be done at least once a year.

Smelly dishes from Kenmore Ultra Wash

If you post the model number of your dishwasher plus its approximate age (in years) I can help more.

But the most common cause is a weakening pump motor. On many dishwashers, the wash pump motor is also the drain motor. Replacing that motor / pump assembly will solve the problem. While you are replacing the pump, check the heating element to confirm that it is not shorted out or broken.

For now, add a cap full of bleach to the water _after_ the initial dishwasher fill cycle ends and the wash cycle begins. White vinegar would also work, but this will not fix your problem.

Good Luck!

run a large load with no clothes and no soap. use hot water and a full gallon or more of bleach. do an extra rinse to make sure all the bleach is rinsed out before putting clothes in it again.
