Question about Yamaha HTR-5630 Receiver

1 Answer

Yamaha Receiver My receiver is not producing sound from the rear or center speakers or the subwoofer. We have tried all of the usual...securing wires, resetting the entire system. The problem occurred when someone who didn't know what they were doing forgot to turn the subwoofer on so when the system wasn't producing bass (duh), they tried to compensate by adjusting the controls on the display. Since they were clueless, they ended up pressing a whole bunch of buttons which messed up the system. It is supposed to be a 5 speaker system but since this happened, I get no surround sound and the subwoofer is "ON" but again, no sound production. PLEASE HELP

Yamaha 2700 receiver...rear surround, subwoofer and center channel speakers all quit. Any suggestions?

Yamaha "2700"??? No letters?

That would leave you with, um, >>>stereo<<<. What switch selection would do that? Hint: sound fields or DIRECT. Then consider the characteristics of the input source. Pages i through iv in the RXV2700 manual, for example, spell out what speakers work with which sources and sound field selections.

The manual may address the problem. If not go in to the setup and make sure all speaker channels can produce the test tones.

Sony STR-DH510 Multi-channel AV receiver connected to cambridge soundworks ensemble IV w/ passive subwoofer: no sound from center channel during viewing, or during speaker level test- all other speakers...

The STR directs sound to the center as instructed by its speaker setup. You say the center does not work on calibration. Is it defined?

Prove another speaker does or does not work on the center output. Then we'll know if it's the receiver or the speaker ensemble that has the problem.

Have you checked the manual for this "
There is no sound, or only a very low-level sound is heard from the center/ surround. "?

Wiring speakers

your main 2 speakers (front left & right)..hopefully the 5th speaker is a subwoofer right if not it will be...the last 2 speakers will be use as the rear (left & right)...in order for this to sound correct the receiver should have a button (5:1) depressed ...otherwise you just have 5 regular speakers...

What speakers are beneficial with this receiver? I want to have surround sound from my TV and also from my other components - CDs and old record player.

Well to get the full effect of 5.1 surround you will need 2 front speakers, 1 subwoofer, and 2 rear speakers. Personally I used 2 tower speakers, 2 rear speakers and a subwoofer. Match the speakers with the RMS wattage of your Receiver. (100x5) or roughly 50 watts per speaker. Yamaha, KLH, Philips are pretty good speakers.

The subwoofer is not working on our Bose 5.1 surround speakers.

First of all you should never indicate speakers as Large unless they can produce below 20Hz (which is very low), otherwise always set your speakers to Small.

Second, did you also indicate in teh setupmenu that you have a subwoofer? Because if all speakers are set to Large some receivers will omit a subwoofer because Large indicates the speakers can reproduce all sounds even below 20Hz.

So walk through your setup menu, say YES when the sub (SFW) is asked for and that should do the trick.

RX-V596 center and rear channels do not have any sound

Nevermind... My center channel output was set to "NONE" I've had this receiver for a few years now, probably set it that way back when I got it. Oh well, Helps to re-read the user manual...

The info is in the "SET MENU" section of the manual, Pages 35-38. Should solve the issue for "almccrum" above as well.

If you don't have your manual it can be downloaded here:
